Firework displays in ED

Brockwell Park is usually an excellent display.

It is Free.

Only downside is leaving the park afterwards.

Took me over 1/2 hour to get out of the park.

Looks like there have been some changes to the traffic plan

which may make things easier this year. Assuming it is still

on with all the cuts.

I don't think Brockwell Park is on... According to Lambeth Council's website: http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/News/PressReleases/20082010LambethFireworksDisplays.htm

Clapham seems to be Lambeth's only display this year. Shame, as BP fireworks has always been great fun*, and you could usually see Streatham and Clapham's displays in the distance too.

*Apart from the minor issues of having to smuggle a moderate amount of cider in and the queue to leave.

Hi rahrahrah,

Southwark Park is fenced making it easier to manage safely.

Burgess Park is unfenced.

Quite a few local displays which aren't free. Burbage Road Sports Club ground - close to junction of Stradella Road. That was really good last year.

Shame we don't have a display in Dulwich Park. I'll ask the friends if they've ever thought of running one with an entrance fee to raise money.

Given local government cuts I'm amazed there are any fireworks at all.

    • Brockwell Park is still fenced off and looks like it will be for some time. The council have put signs up saying that Brockwell Live are responsible for restoring the park (got to love it when council's point the fingers at others to aportion blame!) and that the fences will stay up "until further notice". Looking through the fence gaps I suspect the Brockwell Wall will be up for some time as huge swathes of the park are compacted mud. The Brixton side of the park was very crowded due to the Herne Hill side being unusable.
    • And put an elasticated collar with bell on your cat so that needless deaths and maimings of small birds/mammals be avoided.
    • Does anyone know what's happening with The Grove Tavern on the corner of Lordship lane and the A205? There is a new fence around the building. 🤷‍♂️
    • You did say that your neighbour was being cagey and I'm wondering if , for instance , he's doing a partial chimney breast removal rather than the whole thing and that he thinks this doesn't need a party wall agreement.
