Sorry to hear that it's awful.. this is why I fully agree with those that say do not open the door when you aren't expecting anyone. It's a shame that we have to live like that but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I hope you're children are okay are not too upset if they witnessed this b'stard, can you give an age range??

Tibby, thanks for posting and I'll definitely be extra vigilant now the nights are dark. I hope you are OK now. A quick question, living in a street with only on-street parking. How did he know you had a car? Do you have a driveway, or did he just guess?? (just wondering if its an opportunist thing or if there is surveillance going on)

He was approximately 6ft, slim build, black, shaven head although he had a hood up, a puffa type jacket which my 6 year said was brown.. He had around his neck a scarf but a hankerchief type which was pale blue check with tassles on it.

Thank you to everyone who has sent messages. I have often read threads on here regarding crimes that have been committed but never thought I would be posting such a crime. Our two daughters who are 6 and 8 heard the whole incident and it has left the traumatised, neither will go anywhere or be anywhere in the house on their own without my husband or I with them. They wont sleep on their own, wake up crying and dont want to be at home at more.. I understand how they feel as I now will not even open the door to let our cat out.

In time I know my children and I will feel safe again, or at least I hope so but as I type this my youngest is asleep with her hand gripping my arm and my eldest twitching away in such a restless sleep that I know if I move she will wake up. What gives anyone the right to cause this much distress to people.

The car has not been seen since I watched it being driven off down towards Scutari Road/Forest Hill Road.

    • Saw this today about Southwark voting in support of a tourist tax in the borough  BBC News - Tourist tax visitor levy comes closer in Southwark https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5ypvw0qln7o Makes me wonder what else they can find to tax, maybe a fine for breaking wind, or breathing or even a tax on windows. Of course I am being facetious but it does feel like if it moves, they will tax it.
    • Politicians particularly so....remember it's always party before people! I doubt McAsh will be in cabinet much longer...he might find even more attempts to kneecap his political career. I wonder if he might have to move to another area and restart - he obviously has political ambition but it seems Southwark is not going to be where it blossoms anymore - unless he can manage some sort of coup.

    • Hi Sue, they were not local solicitors. Andrea’s was based in Wales and the other firms involved were large nationwide conveyancing companies (rather than conventional high street solicitors). I’m happy to advise clients and buyers privately on what I believe to be their shortcomings but I don’t think doing so in public on the forum would be appropriate, particularly as they are not locally based. My general advice would always be to steer clear of the big conveyancing companies as they are, in my experience, notoriously difficult to contact when the need arises and the case handler is often not a fully qualified solicitor and so issues have to be referred upwards to “technical teams” internally, which was part of the problem in Andrea’s chain.
