The phrase 'fancy coffee' puts me off

It's coffee, that what it is. What's fancy about 'coffee' these days?

Really? I thought the problem was more usually that some contemptible curmudgeon would leap onto the thread, without thought to the outsourcing zeitgeist, and go banging on about a generation of self-entitled preeners who've never learnt to drink proper coffee, let alone make it, and how, if they had any appreciation of the environment, farmers, food miles, sustainability, the value of money, orang-utans or colonialism, they'd take a good hard look at themselves, salvage some recyclables, make themselves a grinder and a moka pot and go stalk squirrels for their acorns.

But maybe I'm wrong.

OK here's what ya do.

Buy a small coffee machine. De Longhi (other brands available) which is big enough for a small household, learn to use it well. Endless videos on YouTube (other channels are - who am I kidding)

Buy the best coffee of your choice, milk etc

MAKE IT to YOUR taste. With demerara or mollasses or white or syrup of your choice of flavour, and cinnamon or chocolate dusting or just heavily clouding on top.... And put it in a big MUG not a bloody glass which is nuts given I like my coffee HOT and I like a handle

Drink in the comfort of your own home without endless mindless yacking surrounding you as people talk on their phones In Important Voices and rarely to one another, on your own comfy seat / bed. Oh, and the company's better too. You will find that in about 3 months you will start saving money assuming you have a coffee a day.* You could also make a flask of the stuff to take with you but now I am sounding truly ancient. You can't put a good coffee in a flask dammit Rose! But having made it to perfection and begun to resent the fact buying a coffee is more expensive than beer, and beer is about 70% tax (or is that petrol), that someone somewhere is getting royally ripped off and it might just be you.

And now for my SECOND big mug of my favourite at home. :D

* Someone below will doubtless work out the true maths.

Jeremy even young I was not very socially competent. Oh, and I am not keen on crowds which is a problem when going to music venues..... (Went past 12Bar other day btw.) Hence being a biker. But I love coffee. Talking of which: Coffee time!

    • Europe, very much so, the whole of August is a write-off, if you want anything delivered from there, forget it, but there's no similar summer shutdown period in the UK as such, just people taking hols while kids off school etc. The nearest the UK construction sector has to a proper shut down is the Christmas/New Year period when, depending on when the Bank Holidays fall, there's an approx 10-14 day unofficial shutdown between Christmas and New Year...
    • There's planning permission for 2 houses.  Southwark planning site is too slow today to use, but found this link from Savills to auction the site: https://auctions.savills.co.uk/auctions/19--26-november-2024-158/3335-hansler-road-east-dulwich-london-se22-9dj-13236   Edited to add that the inclusion of lower ground floor in the planning application description indicates that basements will be dug.  Looks like Fellbrigg/Hansler is up for some heavy construction traffic next year.
