Totally sympathise, I'm laid back about it during the day, was told to get on with life and not tiptoe round the baby- seems to have worked, she sleeps through the hoovering being done! weirdly I always hate it when the bell goes at night! It's ok if she is already asleep, it's callers at the crucial 7 ish that get glared at!! Ironically the last one was a chap collecting for save the children!!

Have you tried hanging a sign over the knocker to say 'Baby Sleeping'? Oddly, Little Saff is usu ok with the door, but it always makes me jump! As for leaflets, don't even get me started. Imagine tryin to get buggy and baby out the door, with out letting naughty cat out the front, while sliding all over a pile of leaflets the size of Mont Blanc. Arrrgh.

Hmmm, perhaps I'll get one of those 'Beware of Dog' signs, and cross-out the 'Dog' to read 'Beware of MUM'!

When sitting in our front room, the front door is in hall right 'behind' where I sit - when girls were little if anyone knocked on the door they would jump out of their little babygrows/startle awake etc!!

At that point I got a doorbell and put a note on the door saying "Please ring bell, don't knock, new baby in house" and it did seem to work (so many people send parcels for new baby, poor postmen must be a bit paranoid!!)....but every battery operated doorbell we have seems to go kaput after a couple of months and stop working, so now girls are 2 and 6 I've gone back to the good old door knocker, and now have to put up a sign saying "Knock HARD, can't always hear over the children"!!!

LOL, how life goes in circles......

    • I can't access the article - what's the gist?  I took the markets getting jittery when she was crying at PMQs to be a sign that they trusted her. But maybe it was because they were simply worried about any form of instability.  The NIC hikes have stymied the economy, which we could all see a mile off. Will a wealth tax improve things? Does anyone here think the trickle down has any impact and that chasing out the super rich will help things? Or are we just seeing off the biggest contributors to the economy? And has the Kwasi approach ever worked anywhere else?  Economics is not my strong point at all, I'd love to know others' opinions, but it seems to be she has few options, especially as the party is so divided.
    • does either of them have a surgery? probably not over summer, but I thought they had to give the opportunity for their constituents to meet them.
    • MaryT, I’ve contacted the Dulwich Hill councillors several times in recent years, always copying them both in. I have never had an acknowledgment from Jon Hartley (not even an automated response or out-of-office) nor had any response or engagement from him regarding the issue raised.   On each occasion, only Maggie Browning responded (she uses an out-of-office if she is away). The last time, I received no response from either for 3 months, until Maggie Browning emailed me to apologise for not responding and asking if the problem had been resolved.
    • The  Kwasi effect is being considered.
