And the winner is....... The Rosendale! Just had a meal there in the restaurant side which was good and wine which was amazing: Viognier and Muscat :)

The waiter told me that they had won today and beat Monsieur Ramsay to the title.

Allfornun - It's true.

I live a couple of minutes away so I'm always in there after work. The bar menu is good but I would suggest you go for the upper part as that is where the restaurant menu is served. works out to about 40-50 per head depending on how many courses and wine you go for.

Jahlush - yes it has been fixed up A LOT since you were there. Not to say it was that bad before mind. It also has private dining/function rooms upstairs. See pictures http://www.therosendale.co.uk/

I love Chez Bruce but the numbers you gave a. should be ?37.50 for 3 courses and b. doesn't include wine or the discretionary 12.5% so more like ?55 per head. What I gave was all in (including 9 glasses of different wine from a 30 strong list of wine by the glass) and was of a very good quality. It (being the quality) is high enough to perhaps receive a star one day.

The winelist http://www.therosendale.co.uk/menu.asp?menu=2689 is charitably marked up too. I can definitely recommend the Viognier and Muscat - sublime.

I'd sooner pay that than ?11 for a sandwich.

Cheeky sod! I've been in loads. Chapter One and Arbutus are two examples of michelin starred restaurants where you can get a meal for two with a modest wine for under ?100. And there are loads where you could spend less than ?150.

Indeed, Jeremy.

I think most people go to M-star restaurants 'as a treat' and so order all the trimmings (aperatif, cheeseboard, digestif, wine galore). It need not be so. Order modestly.. and go twice!

(Err... That said, I think we coughed-up over ?175 in CB's last time)

downsouth - don't get me wrong, the menu does look good and I'd love to check it out some time. It's just that I was initially surprised at those prices in a pub. But if the food is of a high quality (which apparently it is), then I guess it's pretty good value after all!
I agree it's great for the area, I've been once just after it opened and it was very good, not really a gastro pub though. I believe Anglea Hartnett was championing it at the awards!! Perhaps now that Ramsay has closed the restaurant at The Connaught she's looking.....................

If only - that would put a rocket under Dulwich's profile. We already have a few bentleys parking out there of an evening. Saw a few really old crusty Michael Winner types in there last night no doubt off the back fo the evening standard article.

    • I cannot remember who ran/organised the original ED LETS. They had meetings at the ED Community Centre every so often. I think there were about 20 - 25 people involved.
    • That looks consistent with what I saw when I checked a few weeks ago, after someone raised a fresh thread asking about the progress.  I was about to post here asking if anyone could help with what seemed a bit of  a  mystery.  The planning register didn't show the application as decided.  I couldn't find any minutes of the committee meeting that James reported on last year, or any mention in any other minutes of the application.  The meeting was itself  flagged in the meetings schedule as MOVED (presumably to another date).   Incidentally, I remember one of the atttached planning documents being a report on the financial prospects then pertaining.  As far as I understood and remember it seemed to show the construction for sale of the buildings a ? poor prospect for the investment.  I'm no expert though.
    • Hi sue  so this year I think I fed them a tomato food but only probably three to four times in the summer  don't over water them  I put mine outdoors in about march depending on the weather as long as there's not going to be any frost and bring them back indoors September october-ish or when I think the frost is coming
    • What do you feed it with? Just a general all purpose feed? Clearly I am doing something wrong with mine! They flower every year, but they don't have anything like that amount of flowers!
