Full and part-time staff needed for the Copper Beech Cafe opening in North Dulwich in May

Recommended Posts

The Copper Beech Caf?, opening early May, will serve JAGS Sports Club and its members, as well as guests and the public. We are looking for a team of motivated individuals to create and produce our menu of healthy and delicious soups, salads, sandwiches, sweet and savoury treats, fresh juices and smoothies. The team will also be responsible for making a variety of high grade coffee-based drinks, with beans from local roasters Volcano coffee, and for serving a small selection of locally produced beers and wines.

Barista experience is preferable but not necessary, as all staff will receive full training from Volcano Coffee. An interest in food is key, as food will be prepared in-house and the menu will evolve. Each staff member will take their turn in the kitchen and the whole team will be invited to suggest dishes and be involved in recipe development.

The environment will be dynamic and service will be fast-paced, with a high customer turnover and large takeaway trade. Staff will be expected to work together as a team to create the most enjoyable customer and team experience, especially during busy periods.

Successful applicants will be friendly, flexible, enthusiastic and proactive, and will demonstrate the desire to create an inviting environment for a hugely eclectic audience. This caf? will focus on high quality, delicious, locally-sourced and sustainable products, and will be an opportunity for guests to unwind, recharge, escape, study or simply be.

There are a number of positions available and we are hiring both full time and part time staff.

Please send your CV along with a short covering letter to [email protected], stipulating your preferred working basis (full time or part-time) by 5th April. Interviews will take place w/c 10th April. Successful candidates will start on 24th April.

    • I enjoy cycling with gay abandon down Court Lane, across Dulwich Village and onto Herne Hill.  I sometimes put my feet up on the beach too.
    • I would look at the area between Dulwich and Herne Hill The link from Herne Hill station by Thameslink to St Pauls is superb. but it all depends on what rating ( 1 thro' 10) you give to each of the parameters you have identified.

    • You probably don't need to understand it better!! But basically you used to be able to drive up and down Court lane and Calton Avenue across the Dulwich village junction with gay abandon and now you can't because that part of junction is now blocked by multicoloured woodwork and planters.  So Dulwich village is split in half for vehicles and you have to drive a long round to get from one side to other.  Some people (the majority who responded to Southwark's seemingly flawed consultation) hate this, especially those living on roads to which the through traffic has been displaced and those who have to drive alot further to get from one side of DV to the other and some people like it.  The debate will go on forever without a happy ending for some of the people.  That's it really 🤔
