The thing is, even if the deliveries are back to normal, the blooming sorting office is still in Peckham! Which is massively inconvenient compared to where it was. Unfortunately I couldn't make the meeting but did anyone ask about the likelihood that we might have a collection point back in East Dulwich within our lifetimes? Or is that just out of the question now?

It occurs to me that if anybody is going to email their complaints to Craig P Wallace, they could copy the email to Royal Mail's CEO (address above somewhere) and Helen Hayes.

Just a thought ......

I am mentally compiling my list of complaints as I type :))

Thanks to those who reported back from the meeting. What chaos. Certainly no sign of a return to normal here; in the last fortnight we?ve had post twice, both times a huge volume of letters from various dates. I assume the parcel I?ve been waiting for since the beginning of September is gathering dust somewhere in the sorting office.
I'm still missing post too (SE22) BUT... did have success with a redelivery of a previously missed package - missed the delivery last Friday, arranged redelivery for Thursday and it turned up which is a pleasing step in the right direction - hopefully its not a one off. The missing post is just annoying though!
I have been waiting for something posted first class on 26 October. The retailer posted a replacement on 6 November which I received on 8 November so I think the current post might be being delivered fine but there is a load of backlog deliveries stuck somewhere...
I?m still only getting post about three times a week and, on each occasion, it was delivered by a different postie. I watched one tip a big silver bag of post into his trolley and go through the contents on the pavement. Craig Wallace, the big cheese at the Peckham sorting office, told us at the meeting a couple of weeks ago that trolleys were not being used and that post would be back on track around now. I am going to email him today to let him know he was talking nonsense.

We haven't had regular post for months now. I recently had two re-deliveries booked in and have received neither.

Have emailed Craig and cc'd in Royal Mail CEO, our MP and Royal mail customer services (just for fun the last one as I know that's pointless!)

    • Missing Cat! 11 months old/ Our friend, Coco, has gone missing. Last seen evening of 31st October near top of Henslowe rd where it meets Underhill Rd in SE22. We know she has started wandering up Friern Rd and further we guess but we imagine she has been spooked by Halloween / Fireworks goings on. She is a grey Siberian mix with some brown stripes down her, very friendly and likes to eat. Please let us know
    • That said, organised displays could be on Saturday before and after and the actual day, and private ones could just not have the loud ones.  It’s all down to accessibility and people caring/not caring
    • The problem this year is that 5th November falls on a Wednesday. So some places will be bringing their "bonfire night" forward to Saturday 1st and some will be knocking it back to Saturday 8th and there'll probably be a few that just go with Wednesday 5th anyway. If you're doing a public display, having it on a weekend gets more crowds. Which basically means a solid week of fireworks.
    • Fireworks in this area do feel totally incessant at this time of year, almost every evening there is terrible noise. I feel great concern for wildlife, pets (I have a senior cat who hates them), as well as people who struggle with PTSD etc. Last year I even had people setting them off in front of my home. Tonight and yesterday evening have been particularly bad. Is there anything we can do as a community to prevent this? What action can we take? Surely we shouldn’t be expected to just put up with it every year for weeks on end!
