I'd responded to something from someone that I thought was sarky but I'd got the sequence wrong ..... must have opened on an old cookie (or whatever it's called when you don't actually close/log out) so I took that advantage of edit, which would be so useful in real life with words :-$

As a newie myself I'm still getting used to the layout here, keep using Quote on the wrong posts as it's at the bottom of the posts, not the top or within them as I'm used to.

Wouldn't it just..... If only u could edit people out lol

Yeah ul get people pick u up on grammar and spelling and also ull have to justify and back ur ideas thoughts and posts to a new extreme ud never thought possible before someone will back off It's a whole new world on here but there's alot of decent people here too believe it or not... Welcome to the forum it's got it's great uses but be warned there's lots of bored bullies too... New to the area or just to the forum?

The original post seemed to me to say in summary

"People on the forum have a go and aren't nice, but I've met some people in real and there are actually nice people round here."

As you posted it on the forum it's difficult to read that as anything other than provocation even if that's not what you meant as appears to be from your subsequent posts. Come on here to criticise people on here and what reaction do you expect?

Anyhoo - Happy Boxing Day.

    • Who was Diana Rayworth, when 'resting from acting'. Her successful career was very sadly cut short following a devastating accident.
    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
