I have an old iMac and have been trying to get it hitched up to my modem but it keeps trying to dial up some old Internet number. I know nothing about macs anyway and am completely lost on this piece of computing history. Does anyone know how to get it to recognise my router?

Oh, that's a bit small!

The top yellow one says:

Apple Remote Access.

The modem is not resaponding properly. Reset the modem, check t's connections, and check that the correct port and modem type are selected in the Modem control panel.

Where is the Modem control panel? How do I get the Imac to recognise my router? I don't have a clue how to change the internet settings.

I managed to find out how to connect to a network and that seems to be the ethernet settings but I need to give it an IP address, then a subnet mask and finally a router address. I have the router IP address and used that for both the IP address and router address, but what is a subnet address?

    • I was referring more to his performance at PMQs yesterday. It was quite a riot! Almost topped Mastermind
    • Agreed, he should not be held accountable over the mess up over release of prisoners. On the other hand he did himself no favours with his gaffes on the BBC Master Mind programme where he passed on five questions. Where he did answer, here are some of his responses.... When asked who succeeded Henry VIII, Lammy incorrectly answered “Henry VII,” When asked which French scientist won Nobel prizes for both physics and chemistry?” Lammy responded with “Antoinette” When asked which fortress was built to defend Paris and later used as a prison, he answered “Versailles". When asked which variety of blue English cheese is often taken with port, he answered "Leicester" If nothing else he was entertaining.
    • Why do you think he should be toast? All these problems with the prison service apparently go way back, long before Labour took over.
