A bit of gaming overload AndyB?

Anyways, Santa was very nice & brought me Scene It (Movie quiz) & Lego Batman. Haven't tried either yet, but looking forward to both of them.

I got myself Call of Duty 5 just before Christmas & it's good fun as well. The multiplayer side is great.

On a different note, has anyone on here ever payed any of the X games? They're, different. Not for everybody, but if you like empire building in space they can be great fun, if a bit slow.

Well, I got Resistance 2 and Mirrors Edge for my birthday- 20th of December. I ffnished Resistance 2 yesterday and started on Far Cry 2. Is it just me or are games getting shorter? I rememebr taking weeks to play the fisrt Tomb Raider.

I played a bit of LBP, made me laugh, I love it!

Can't seem to get the voice activation of Endwar to work properly.

Santa was very generous this Christmas and endowed the ed_pete offspring with a Wii. As there seem to be a number of fellow Wii owners in here I thought I pose a question: I'm going to connect it to the internet and given the choice, is there much difference in performance between a wired and wireless connection ? I plan to download the browser app so I can use it to access the EDF from my Wii. Is wired best for web access or would the wireless performance be OK ? (It's OK on laptops in the house). Would online gaming (assuming we get that far) be better wired or wireless ?

All advice gratefully received.

My wireless setup is faaar from optimised (it's an old Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange Livebox) but certainly for anything Wii related it's fine. I only use the browser on the Wii for iPlayer catchups - for general text browsing the resolutions is too small for my taste. Gaming-wise I haven't noticed any undue lag with the wireless connection

When I need more robust speeds (streaming HD content to the 360 say) I tend to use wired connections - all else seems fine

After several emd of year round ups named it as one of teh best games you won't have played, I stumped up 1500 Wii points to download World of Goo... and fantastic it is too. Bags of charm and plenty of "oooh I know WHAT to do but it's going to take me a while to figure out just HOW to do it" - very reminiscent of that feeling one had playing Lemmings for the first time

Lady MacGabhann has also taken a shine to it so it had pretty broad appeal. So go download it

Doooo eeeeeeet

Really must sort it out and get my Wii online. You can download some old school NES games too, and I want Super Mario 2, classic! (the one where you could be Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Toad, and Peach could hover, making her easiy the best character).

Had the Wii round at my sister's place on Saturday night for a little game night (I kick ass at Articulate by the way), just with Wii Sports and Mario Kart, think I sold a couple of Wiis for Nintendo!

those are the games to do it alright... just wish there were more like them

Some of the classics on the virtual console for the wii are ropier than you possibly remember, and the download mechanism is enough to drive me to... well I'm already there. But there is some good original stuff coming out on the wiiware channel for sure

browsing the EDF on a wii remains a guilty pleasure as well!

It's an age old debate - gameplay v realism. I've been gaming since 82 or so and can honestly say I haven't had as much fun as I have had since the 360 came out (caveat: idiot count online at XBOX live is too high and some of the blockbuster games of today are aimed at them. But when we have had Braid, REZ HD and others to delight in recent months, we can't complain either)

I used to go to SPACE CITY in West Croydon every Friday with a ?20 note and the odd visit to the Arcade in Camberwell, they were the days. Defender Galaxian Gorph BattleZone SpaceInvaders and Misile Command, I remember closing my eyes and seing the games still playing in my head.............

Well I got the Orange Box a couple of weeks ago. Who gives my better half all the good suggestions? Thank you, who ever you are!

Just started getting into it & enjoying it. Played most of HL2 on the PC, but quite happy to start that again. Started portal last night & it's good. Different, but I like the puzzles so far. Also looking forward to trying TF2.

    • It doesn't matter what channel it was on, how pernicious the subject is and when it happened. Mis-representing the truth in broadcast is not only morally wrong, it's against the OFCOM code of ethics.  Everyone in the industry is trained in how not to do it, most are made to take the BBC's own 'Safeguarding the Trust' course, even if they aren't making BBC programmes.  There wasn't much fuss at the time, because no one knew about it.  "Unless you hate Britain, hate liberals, hate the BBC, want a divided country, support the most powerful person in the world despite his many failings". What the programme makers personally think or feel should never affect how they tell a story; to do so is deeply unprofessional and a sackable offence.  It's the job of the BBC and of all programming to inform viewers of the facts and let them make up their own minds. Even in campaigning documentaries.
    • Hadn't realised that the Panorama programme that people are up in arms about was over a year ago.  There wasn't much fuss at the time so why drag it up.  Unless you hate Britain, hate liberals, hate the BBC, want a divided country, support the most powerful person in the world despite his many failings. The programme was clumsy, but the vast majority of us know that Trump had an influence.  So the Telegraph has played into his hands.
    • I tried a Lime bike once, too heavy and bulky for me but I understand that many really like them.  And very much support the concept.
