Ole
Hi, in the past I have read some comments about night cough and a medicine you can get over the counter which is good for this kind of thing?? My 14 month old has a horrible night time cough and he is not sleeping, and neither are we, any suggestions welcome! samstopit
Karvol drops on the duvet can help. Medised is also good (or calpol night) as it contains an antihistemine and mild sedative but I think these days the guidance is that these types of medicines should only be given at age two or over. ratty
There is also a Calpol plug in that fragrants the air - non chemically but seems to work. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15494-cough/#findComment-404992 Share on other sites

ClareC
Hiya, I have been through all this with my 12 month daughter, its not good news!! Anything for chesty coughs comes with a 6 and above licence!Dry coughs you can give Tixlylix etc (glycerine based) but it's very short lived relief and not very effective. What you can do, and we have been doing religously is; 1. Vicks on back, chest and soles of feet2. Humidifyer in room at night3. Karvol on bed sheets4. Saline nasal spray and aspirator for blocked nose5. Plug in Vicks You can also bring them in the bathroom and turn the shower on hot to create a steamy atmosphere- although I guess that is just a DIY humidifyer.I know what you are going through, my daughter has been chesty since around Christmas now!! We even saw a respiratory specialist at Kings last week! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15494-cough/#findComment-405150 Share on other sites
kristymac1
My daughter (nearly 4) had a horrible night time cough for weeks (actually months) from Oct/Nov last year, she was diagnosed with asthma, I was a little alarmed at the quickness to diagnose (the night-time cough being the only symptom), she takes an inhaler morning and night and the cough has completely gone - it may be worth a rip to the GPs if it continues for a period of time. We also use an extra pillow and a humidifier in her room which seems to make her more comfortable Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15494-cough/#findComment-405151 Share on other sites
ljs
I always use Lavender oil on a muslin next to the bed. Karvol drops also help. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15494-cough/#findComment-405177 Share on other sites
