If you were parked Claire do you think it was a car parked on either side of you that departed? I ask only because recently I've had a bike park behind me and not leaving a great deal of room it was quite difficult to get out due to not being quite sure which bit of the bike was the nearest to the rear of the car as per the view in my mirror. That said whoever did it should have had the decency to pick the bike up if they hit it, unless it was deliberate.
