Marmora Man
Does anyone have any experience of Monarch Airlines? We booked a long notice flight to Spain for July and now want to cancel as plans have changed. When booking we didn't read the Terms & Conditions carefully (stupid I know) and have discovered they do not allow for any refund in the event of cancelling a booking on a scheduled flight. I had mistakenly assumed that Monarch would operate as other, non lo cost, carriers and allow cancellations with reasonable notice.I cannot see a way out of losing ?450 - but would be grateful for any guidance / advice anyone can offer. Ticket was paid with a debit card. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15638-monarch-airlines-obtaining-a-refund/ Share on other sites
Narnia
Can't help apart from saying it's better to book with a credit card. In the event of an airline going bust there's more chance you will get your money back.It occured to me now that maybe you can sell your tickets if you can't get them refunded? You have plenty of time. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15638-monarch-airlines-obtaining-a-refund/#findComment-408209 Share on other sites
HAL9000
Surely, the T&Cs will tell one what can and can't be done? Without reference to them, it's pointless suggesting reselling or transferring the tickets to other routes/passengers, one would have thought? Narnia
Is it worth rebooking for another time (?27.50 pp)? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15638-monarch-airlines-obtaining-a-refund/#findComment-408272 Share on other sites

nikki73
I think they always have to refund taxes if you don't end up using the flights.usually substantial amount. Loz
True, but they usually apply an admin fee, which funnily enough usually works out to be about the same amount as the taxes.
