Well, I suppose if you look at Twitter accounts of that ilk, it's understandable why you would have such a jaundiced view...

Although much of Twitter's pretty vacuous, more thoughtful users do employ it for the propagation of interesting and informative texts, either by linking elsewhere or providing text in the form of an accompanying picture, for example a screenshot of a Word document.

Well, that certainly explains your jaundiced view. You do realise that what you wrote could equally apply to the EDF in some people's eyes? Just saying...

To be fair most *online* ?debate? about Brexit is pretty self-serving. It tends to exist in one echo chamber or another, consisting mostly of people reinforcing each other?s views about whatever stance they hold and arguing vociferously with interlopers who go against their flow.

We?re just of guilty of that here, and I include myself in that.

Yes. I don't post on twitter but I'm really pleased to have found it as a source of info. from technocrats.

Pretty much the whole content (which is generally only a few posters). I think JoeLeg summed it up perfectly when he said: "To be fair most *online* ?debate? about Brexit is pretty self-serving. Ah. Sorry Robbin. I'd misunderstood you. I thought you were talking about the Twitter 'thread' written by David Allen Green, not this overall discussion thread.

But as to the comments you and Joe Leg make. I think there's a difference between 'self-serving' - designed to increase the self esteem of the writer - and 'blinkered' - failing to take other points of view into account. And there seems to be me be a difference between people who operate very much from the 'heart' or from the 'head'. So sometimes you get emotion and belief packaged as factual argument. That's just annoying.

A very fair summary!

Ha ha! All bog standard negotiation posturing. Nobody who knows about negotiating would be surprised by any of what has been emanating from the EU for the last 12 months in terms of posturing. It's only the UK that seems intent on signalling what we consider to be weaknesses in our negotiating position. Anyone who places much weight on posturing from the other side during a negotiation is displaying considerable naivety.

As if the Dutch PM knows what preparations have/are taking place in the UK. Moreover, he of all people knows that the Netherlands has failed to prepare for a no deal scenario in extremely important respects and must now be worried. The letter leaked yesterday from within the EU (about how the Netherlands and other countries cannot be ready and will suffer serious consequences) made that very clear indeed in respect of aviation!

I agree it's negotiation - but they just seem so much better at it than us - this tweet from Peston actually makes you feel sorry for her - the girl being excluded from the in crowd at school. You get the feeling it was all planned.

He is already going to the transport museum and has been to the science museum  Husband and I have some mobility problems so nothing too strenuous. have done Horniman's a number of times.  Is there any local holiday schemes where we can enrol him in for 2/3 days. There seems to be a number relating to singing/dancing and drama but nothing science/maths based. He does not have an interest in sport at the moment. Grand children live in Sussex and will be attending Holiday Clubs for a couple of weeks
