WOW, I hadn't seen this thread for days, and had no idea it had gone on like this.

Okay, I said "That was my first thought too. Kids might key a car a bit, but too properly damage it you need to be really pi$$ed off with the flash git who owns it."

Now in writing that, I had no idea if the car was owned by a straight man, an 80 year old pensioner, a gay woman, or what... I was merely joining in with the scorned lover scenario, and had images of expensive suits being cut up, and yes I was being stereotypical in a light hearted way. I am sorry if I upset your sensitivities, but I wouldn't call myself a "vicious and unthinking" kind of guy.

I'm not envious of anyone who owns a Porche, because I don't drive and have no wish to... I guess I might be envious of someone who could afford a Porche, but I'm sure I could find better things to spend that money on.

I do however play the guitar, and I openly admit that I love people looking at my Gibson Les Paul, big Marshall amp and stupid pedal that does everything if you know how it works (which I don't) with envy, and proudly admit to being a flash git in that sense.

    • Most people with pets would not bring either the pets or fireworks into their day to day conversations. Are you suggesting that only "timid" pets are scared by fireworks? What evidence do you have for that, exactly?  Or are you equating being scared of fireworks with being "timid"? Firework noise is not a noise that "comes with normal city living" ! What a very strange thing to say!
    • Well, I know a lot of people in London with pets and I've never heard any of them complain about fireworks.  Maybe what's not ok is keeping timid animals in a metropolis when they are scared of the noises that come with normal city living.
    • We git a ticket when we tried to park there to watch the fireworks.  Anyways we didn't even get a space and so we didn't actually park.  But we got a penalty notice.  We just paid up.  And we won't be taking our car their ever again.  You probably needed a Southwark council visitors permit.  I imagine it would have needed to be booked online B4 or by the end of the day that you parked. Beat thing to do is contact Southwark Council Estate parking to clarify the situation.   I hope your freebie was worth the value of your penalty.
    • I don't think it works like that. It's not like the fireworks are on a regular daily  schedule. And in any case, why should animals be badly frightened on several occasions in order that they "become accustomed" to them? Do you really think that's ok?
