....vomit down your best jacket when you are just about to go out......

This happened once when I was not going out but was holding her in my arms when she heaved,

so I held her away from me but it still went into my unbuttoned collar,

all this warm putrid smelling, yoghurtey stuff running inside my shirt,

because I held her away from me the rest of it went down the front of my trousers and on to my shoes and socks!

I had to have a bath and complete change of clothes, which was nice.

Course they do, buggie - then they only wake up if they're thirsty, or need a pee, or a bit cold, or scared of the dark, or fancy a chat, or hear a funny noise, or have a cold / are generally a bit out of sorts, or it's too light (o too dark), or have lost their favourite stuffed animal, possibly because the animal is in the wrong hand. Hope that helps! :-)

Q. is it possible for babies to miss out rolling over?? Bugglet has rolled from front to back a few times but not in weeks and never from back to front, however, she is sitting on the whole unsupported/minimal support (with the occasional forward/backwards/sideways dive!). She loves sitting but still isn't keen on tummy time - should I do more tummy time?!

A.... anybody?!

I think they are two separate skills using different muscles

Never did tummy time with any of mine, they all learned to crawl/walk regardless!

A. my son rolled from back to front once at 4 months, then never again. He always hated tummy time, so basically worked out that if the only point of rolling was to get you on your tummy he wasn't going to do it :) He sat unaided quite early, everyone told me he would then be quick to start moving... which he didn't do at all until 14 months when he started bottom shuffling. They're all different, if your baby is happy having tummy time go for it, but I didn't force it when it was obvious my little boy didn't like it.

My daughter was the opposite, rolled early and loved being on her tummy. She's a tummy sleeper (2.5 now, but has been sleeping on her tummy since she could roll), son is a back sleeper.

ARRRRGH, Seb STILL does that! When we get to toddler groups I wake him up. When he makes a fuss I point out he should have had a lovely lie-in 'till 9am instead of waking at the crack of dawn. That'll learn him!

Seb did this when my MW was over this AM:

Climbed onto the coffee table, pulled down his trousers and nappy (his new trick...) and then got down on all fours. And weed. No poos THANK GOD. She was doing my BP at the time and couldn't stop laughing. I found it less amusing. Later on she had to do a few bloods and we had to bribe him with ceebeebies. Having blood drawn whilst you and your MW witter on about 'Oooooh look! A lovely CARTOON! Look, there are CHILDREN! See the CHILDREN, darling???' is surreal.

Why, baby, WHY?

    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
    • My memory, admittedly not very reliable these days, places the shop on the block on the left hand side just before Burgess Park going towards Camberwell. Have also found a reference to Franklins Antiques being located at 157 Camberwell Road which is on that block. This is a screen shot obtained from Google maps of that address which accords with my memory except the entrance door was on the right hand side, where the grey door is, rather than in the centre.
    • The MFI was probably where Iceland is now. This post makes me feel very old - went to a 30th birthday party in the garden at the back. Oh to be 30 again!
