Does anyone know why the railings outside the dog kennel hill estate have been moved? It looks like the brickwork that they were attached to has been re-built, but I do hope the original railings are put back.

It always makes me smile when I walk past them! They're not just ordinary boring railings as discussed previously on a different thread.

WW2 Stretcher railings.. The mesh has been renewed over the years.

Walking past today in Pytchley Road it look like they are demolishing the brick work these railings were attached to.

Does this mean all the brick works will disappear leaving just the low hedges.

My Grandfather was a Air Raid Precautions Warden. (ARP) in WW2.

He would of been very familiar with these stretchers.

He never went into a shelter. Think he may of been afraid of being buried alive.

My greatest fear.

He walked around with bombs falling.

He worked in Peckham in the East Surrey Grove / St Georges Way area.
