I live near the no through end of hinckley road, by the goose green playground.

At least 20 times a day moped riders are jumping the 'dead end' between Hinckley Road and East Dulwich Road by mounting the pavement and riding along the footpath past the playground.

Here's where I mean

I so dont want to turn into Victor Meldrew, but it's driving us mad.

Not only to have bikes constantly clonking up and down the pavement and buzzing past our window.

But more importantly that it's plain dangerous - it's a 'blind' corner, and children are often walking along there.

Where do I take this? The police? The council?

In the evenings it's mostly pizza bikes, but when calling Pizza Hut and Dominos hasn't changed anything.

And there are plenty of 'private' scooters doing it too.

"I don't believe it!"

OMG thank you for posting this. I have heard this myself around the Gardens and it's driving me insane. I think it's the same buggers that are doing this. They are often out pretty late as well whizzing past over and over again.

I'd love to know what I can do too about this.

This may be over the top but just as an idea. Could you take photos of any mopeds that belong to the big companies, send them to the head offices, say that you've had no response from the local branches and that if an accident occurs you'll be quick to tell the press?

Photos/ video are a good idea (but don't put yourself at risk). I would suggest reporting the problem to the SNT and the local Community Wardens Officer too. Both can target offenders who are obviously not allowed to ride along public footpaths and issue fines.

In the case of delivery riders for companies. Send the photos with the evidence of which company is using the footpath to the licensing office. The best way to force these companies to take the complaints seriously is to threaten them with loss of their operating license and the council can do that if they have enough evidence.

    • Agree that you have to be so careful dogs in this heat… but please dont judge so quickly.  Its one thing if you see a dog at midday being thrown the ball endlessly, but if you see a dog en route / somewhere - You dont know if that dog was being walked to the vet for an emergency appointment.. or taken to a friend’s house that is cooler etc.  And if they live in a flat, they might desperately need to be taken out for a quick pee / poo !
    • I know,  absolutely crazy.  A dog has never died because it didn't have a walk, but dogs do die if walked in this heat. Perhaps the owners should put on a thick fur coat, take their shoes off and jog round the pavements, and see how that feels! 🤬
    • I bought myself a litter picker from Amazon and do go round and pick up . No one else does. I guess they just don't have the time what with job obligations and kids etc. Question. ...should we pay more council tax in return for a better service? This debate could go on forever.
    • Walking around ED at lunchtime shocked at the amount of owners walking their dogs. Do they not realise  they are risking their dogs life by doing this?
