srisky
Sort of a family room topic, as we have two young, active children...We are repainting our kitchen and living area walls and cupboards and like the Farrow Ball colours we have tried. Reviews from about 5 years suggest that this chips very easily, doesn't wipe down well, which is not ideal with kids. Anyone used it recently and found it better? I tried colour matching it with Valspar at B&Q but it's not quite the same. Anyone tried another colour matching service? Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/165768-fb-paint-for-kitchen-with-young-kids/ Share on other sites
midivydale
Hi, I wouldn't recommend it personally in high traffic areas with young children. I'm speaking as someone who decorated only a couple of months ago. Lovely colours but not durable in my experience with young children. Little Green slightly better Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/165768-fb-paint-for-kitchen-with-young-kids/#findComment-1172066 Share on other sites
Pavilion01
Personally I don't think it's worth it with kids. We copied all F&B colours with leyland paint. 2 young children also & we've so many marks! I've had to scrub off crayon & biro! Re-paint with F&B when they're older ;) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/165768-fb-paint-for-kitchen-with-young-kids/#findComment-1172071 Share on other sites
srisky
Thanks both - I have no particular desire to use F&B per se, I was probably anti it in some form of inverted snobbery. Unfortunately, they sssm to do the colours I like ☹️ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/165768-fb-paint-for-kitchen-with-young-kids/#findComment-1172090 Share on other sites
EDmummy
Love F&B for the colours like you. My experience is that whatever you use, with kids be prepared to re-paint every couple of years so if you think there'll be wear and tear, it doesn't really matter what you use so prob best to go cheepish. vez
We love F&B colours and finishes and have it all over the house. `We use modern emulsion in high traffic areas as it's washable. EastdulwichNewbie
We used F&B last time. Beautiful colours and finish but not great for general living. Someone recently told us about Mylands. They have marble in their paints and apparently this makes them very child-friendly. They're not that well known but do have a royal warrant so they're not doing too badly. Similar prices to F&B. Smaller range but they do colour match too. They're based ish locally. Fragolina
Brewers are excellent at colour matching & the guys there are really helpful too. We've only used F&B modern emulsion in our bathroom & not had any issues. In my son's bedroom we did a colour match. srisky
Thanks all for the recommendations! Myland looks lovely but too pricey, sadly. Will try Brewers as we have one nearish. I think also Dulwich diy do colour match with leyland paints but may be wrong... EPB
Dulwich DIY will mix any of their range of paints to any of the colours in the F$B shade-card.
