Anywhere local you can get glasses made quickly?

I posted a thread in the main section after my glasses were stolen in the library this morning.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably local optician that can get glasses made up quickly, ie not 1-2 weeks' wait? I got my last ones in Kingston and don't have time to get over there or to wait that long.

It depends on your prescription, but Specsavers (Peckham) are good, and fast... I have used other local independent opticians but they are considerably slower and pricier.

Personally I have had bad experiences with Specsavers in Peckham. Was expected to wait 12 days and after 16 my glasses still had not arrived. The one on Lordship Lane is good, but not quick in previous experience. Boots opticians are usually the fastest but no idea where the nearest branch would be?

If you're desperate, one of the Pound shops (can't remember which one) in Peckham has glasses for ?1 which might tide you over.

Yes, I'm filling in with some by-products that look like they came from the milk bottle factory.

I ended up at Specsavers at Clapham junction where a lovely chap called Aaron couldn't have been nicer if I were his own mother.
