mothercourage
Looking for some island recommendations that are kid-friendly. Not sure yet if we want to get a flight and sort out our own accommodation separately or do an all-in package type deal (never done one before, not sure I like the idea of being restricted but am open to suggestions). Thinking of going early July. Any tips/advice very gratefully received. hazelnunhead
I went to sifnos a few years back, really lovely, laid back, small, ... we didnt have a daugther then, but quite a few families around who did and stayed in accomodation with swimming pools overlooking the ocean .... You could fly to one of the near by bigger islands (and then get a boat across) or else its the ferry from athens. Lula
Mothercourage, we are going to Kephalonia this year. Have heard very good things from friends with kids about it. It has sandy beaches, is supposedly not too touristy and has nice villages that are close together. Also charter flights fly direct to the Kephalonia airport so no ferries or changing planes etc...http://www.kefalonia.co.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16776-wanted-recommendation-for-greek-island-holiday-with-4-year-old/#findComment-428559 Share on other sites
Norfolkvillas
Northern Kefalonia (around Fiskardo) is just gorgeous, and some of the loveliest beaches are up here, but at this end of the island they also tend to be pebbly so bring jelly shoes / plastic flip flops etc. The most wonderful thing about the North Eastern side of the island is the mirror-flat and crystal clear water - mesmerising for grown ups, perfect for little ones in inflatables. My fave beach is Foki Bay (plenty of shade, a little taverna, easy to park near by). We hired a villa last time I was there, but there's a lovely hotel called Emelisse (http://www.mrandmrssmith.com/us/luxury-hotels/emelisse-hotel) just outside of Fiskardo which has a set of family friendly apartments (I think there are 4) with a shared family pool and playground. Hope this helps! mothercourage
Fabulous suggestions - thanks everyone. Looks like we've narrowed it down to Kefalonia (like the fact we can fly straight in).
