Vegan restaurant/cafe recommendations? And hello!

Not in east Dulwich but in west Dulwich Risendale a Pub offers vegan food if you ask - not sure if it is mentioned on menu - only know this as I have avegan friend coming to apartheid there and we discussed this and Ivwas impressed tat they offered vegan food.


Spinach is also good - many vegetarian offering so sure there will be one to suit you - again my vegan friend found something suitable.

Not strictly ED but Persepolis in Peckham is great, they can swap out yoghurt or cheese for vegan versions on any of the dishes if you ask, and they sell it to take away too. Good vegan selection at Maloko in Camberwell. For a takeaway, big recommendations for Salas Falafel on Rye lane, it looks like a slightly grotty food van but is very very good.

The new cafe next to Fashion Conscience by ED station apparently has vegan offerings but have yet to try it. A friend had a very good experience at Pedlar recently, where they created a lovely vegan menu for her. We could do with more around here though!

I'm not vegan but I love Blue Brick's food!


Don't go there if you are in a hurry though, as the service can be very slow even if they aren't busy.


I haven't been to Ganapati (Holly Grove, at the Peckham end of Bellenden Road) for ages, but although they are not vegetarian restaurant they used to do excellent vegetarian meals.


They are a South Indian restaurant whose food is a big step up from the Indian restaurants on Lordship Lane (where of course you can also get veggie food if you fancy a rather run of the mill meal).

Emily, you need to google the Happy Cow website, which is up to date and precise.

It is astonishing that there isn't a truly vegan cafe here (yet), but there is the salad lady

on North Cross Road market on a Saturday.

And Borough Market, train from East Dulwich to London Bridge, or 40 to London Bridge, foodie heaven,

although the vegan wraps on Maltby Street (at the end, on the right, past all the meat eaters) are

the best.

I've just had a look at Ganapati's website, and it seems that they do still have a wide selection of vegetarian/vegan food.

They do change their menu quite often though, so best check before you go (or if you order a takeaway).


Though once when I was disappointed that they didn't have a favourite dish of mine on the night we went, when they brought the main course they had made me a special little side dish of the favourite.


To say I was chuffed would be an understatement!

Try a new concept - At Kitchen Skills you go and cook with others and take home what you cooked in specially provided containers. Great Indian Street Food class - also amazing mezza class

Just remembered seeing that Churps Ice Cream under Dulwich Cafe had a sign offering a dairy free option. Although it's not quite the season any more. Anyone tried it?


Also, has anyone found good vegan sausages for sale in the area? The Blue Brick ones are so lovely but they make them themselves so not buyable. Wouldn't mind a good hot dog sausage too, just tried some of the tofurky kielbasa ones and they were foul. so need a corrective...

Oddono's have a number of sorbets which are dairy free (they also incidentally do gluten free cones).


Organic Village on Lordship Lane have a good selection of vegetarian/vegan food at the back. Don't know if they do vegan sausages, but worth trying. If not, they might be willing to order them for you?


They have a type of vegan cheese which my granddaughter (dairy free for medical reasons) has, luckily she likes it but I think it's revolting :))

Masalawala in Brockley. Only has a limited menu but 2 items are usually vegan. Run by the lovely Saima and her mum.

Resurrecting this because Blackbird Bakery just did the most fabulous vegan chocolate cake for my birthday and I'm sad to be eating the last piece of it today. Had no idea they did vegan options. Any other recent ones? I think there is a new vegan cafe in Peckham but not been, anyone?

      Malumbu, you're absolutely right. The vet bills due to attacks on neighbouring cats are certainly not insignificant at all. The wounds can even lead to fatalities. I always urge clients, neighbours & community posters to target the root cause, as opposed to skirting around the underlying & often persistent issue. Connecting with local organisations like Celia Hammond Animal Trust, Cats Protection or Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives is a longterm solution. This is heighlighted, although briefly, under Improving Community Wellbeing. - I'd also like to highlight that if ever unsure whether the culprit is intact, owned or feral, & are hesitant to report, just in case it's a neighbour's neutered cat, you can call upon a Scan Angel or our team at TWB to check for a microchip first. - If the culprit does happen to be a neighbour's neutered cat, there are a variety of solution; both immediate & longterm that I would be more than happy to help with.       Also wanted to leave my recommendation for Lukasz. He came completely on time, was highly efficient, did everything we asked and more without charging extra and left the place immaculate. A real gem - we will definitely use him again!

      Not sure if you added Tomd that have not been neutered terrorising other cats in the area.  Happened round here.  Would have been tempted to castrate the tom if I'd caught it.  Water pistol was not a deterrent.  Vets bills due to various attacks on other moggies was not insignificant

      That's good news. I saw that DVillage is also being renovated. Now the pavement in front is wider and flatter with the recent works, they'll have a nice setup indoors and outdoors.
