Did anyone watch his pub visit live on Sky yesterday afternoon? I couldn't work out if it was manufactured craic or the real thing with real regulars. It being Ireland I think it was indeed the real thing. Although even the oldest grizzled regular was wearing a new tie for the occasion. It was hilarious.

Obama in England

Beautifully summed up, as ever, by the mash.

"[Obama said] "In America we give crowns to beauty queens. Okay, so they are just dim-witted pawns in some decadent, capitalist sideshow, but at least they fucking earned it.

"Not like this old white woman, who tries to justify her ill-gotten luxury with words like 'heritage' and 'continuity' as if we are all just dumb-assed field slaves who don't know nothin' anyhow."

The President continued: "If you think you can wave this imperialist horseshit under my nose and I won't say anything, you must be out of your tiny, inbred minds.

"I am now going to France where they know what to do with people like you.""

    • There  is a dance fit class at Harris girls on a Monday evening 630 pm which I have been going to for years . It is an inclusive class  with a wide range of ages.    The  teacher is Fi and she is amazing and  the classes are lots of fun.   look on the web justdanceuk .com. There are other dance classes  (flowetic )that Fi and the lovely Lizzie runs  at Harris girls too . They also have an event next week which is a bit further- near Penge  which is a day of dance to include  just dance fit, dancehall, line dancing, garage fit and flowetic . Which is also available to book on that website  ( look at the events section) .
    • that’s just been misused first by Faraz and then Starmer. It’s evocative and negative.  But it’s flooding the news today.
    • I didn't realise that either! I thought it just meant division within communities - religious, racial or otherwise.  Yes, it is frightening. The days of the broad church political party are over.
    • So I've done a little more research into the current use of the word, I hadn't realised it had latterly been used to describe anti Muslim feelings. Still don't like the use of the word. These are horrible times and am fearful for the future.
