dancet
There are quite a few large caravans on the old Audi garage sight, arrived late last night apparently? Robert Poste's Child
Appear to be travellers - families in about ten vehicles, with several very noisy generators. Just what we need to fill in the small hours while the roadworks are paused. chuff
I walked past earlier and the generators were extremely noisy. I think there were 3 going. The noise would drive me mad if I lived next to it.Apart from a dog tied up outside barking though there didn't seem to be much else going on. chuff
I don't live within distance to hear the noise from my house so doubt me complaining to them would help anyone. Was out walking the dog when I saw/heard it. I expect everyone on Gilkes will report it though as it's loud! Robert Poste's Child
I'm one road over and you can hear it from here. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/174730-caravans-in-dulwich-village/#findComment-1197403 Share on other sites
DovertheRoad
I'm delighted. It's a good way to make use of neglected land. They've done a brilliant job of letting themselves in and locking up behind them. dbboy
Sure they'll go down a storm in the Village, NOT. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/174730-caravans-in-dulwich-village/#findComment-1197415 Share on other sites
FriendsOfTheTerrapin
Pretty sure they?ll move on when they realise they can?t buy milk, newspapers, fish, fresh pasta, orgasmic vegetables, sour dough pizza, arthouse cinema, indoor plants, multicoloured Lycra gym leggings etc...ED we need to build a wall and get The Dulwich Estate to pay for it... Mick Mac
There goes the neighbourhood. I think they'll move on, when they fid out there is nowhere left to buy a pint of milk. And it takes a long time to get served at the bar. Robert Poste's Child
Gone now. Joking aside, you wouldn't have been happy if it was your road - look at how you all kicked up when they were on Peckham Rye, not actually close enough to houses for noise to be form issue. emu
Gone but left several truck loads of rubbish in the building Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/174730-caravans-in-dulwich-village/#findComment-1197513 Share on other sites
Earl Aelfheah
I thought most of the gap-year age children of Dulwich Village consider themselves 'travellers'. DovertheRoad
Yes - emu is correct. They have gone almost as quickly as they arrived in < 36 hours. The main building appears to have been broken into and now contains several tons of industrial waste. A tidy way of disposing of their refuse with the bonus of leaving the Dulwich Estate to pick up the disposal costs for their hapless neglect. Metal and wires also appear to have been stripped. A quick hit with an exchange of materials. Illegal but I do admire their resourcefulness.
