How about meeting at the FHT first at about 8 and then seeing if we can get a few more people interested in a curry as the evening goes by?

If it happens - Hurrah! If it doesnt, we still have nibbles and can go next week some time - Hurrah!

Nice to meet some of you guys last night at the Bishop!

Sean - I'm 99% sure I've talked to you before in one of the shops like Vals. I pretty much talk to anyone and everyone and I can never remember them all! People sometimes come up and start talking to me and I have to ask Mr Ko if we know that person and he always says 'That's the stranger you were talking to for 20 minutes a few weeks ago...' As I said, anyone and everyone, although you were more fun than most. :))

Sorry I'm not coming tonight but have fun!

If it was in Val's I would likely be sober and almost certainly remember you

If we met in one of the bars in the area it's entirely possible... but very nice to meet ye as well. ('Twas my first "talking to a stranger and finding out they are a forumite" moment)

UC - damn shame man! Hopefully see you soon

The comedy is held every fortnight and we have been going to the last 3 or so. Some good people lined up in the coming months so I'spect we'll be back. You'll know when...

Ouch. Seriously... ouch! And to think people were trying to convince me, nay FORCE me, to stay when I left at 1:30.. what state would I be in now?

Anyway another great evening with many of the usual crew and plenty of "first timers" (plus an heroic late entrance from Keef/Slosh, Mrs K/S and Bagpuss)

PeckhamRose turned up but had to leave almost immediately - you missed out. PR, turned out to be a very lively evening

Also coming along for first and hopefully not the last were

and was it Steve/Scott who came in and spoke to Mark at the bar? Sorry if I got the name wrong

Have I forgotten anyone - forgive my fragile state

So about 20 of us in all but we didn't stand a chance with the "nibbles" laid on. When a pub says nibbles I think a few sausage rolls and plain crisps. This was close to a banquet! Plates piled high with all manner of goodies arrived one after another so a big thumbs up to Forest Hill Tavern for sorting that out

Towards the end of the evening the bar staff found time to interact with us a bit more and, am I imagining this?, bought me a drink??

Anyway I'm back soon to try out this famous chilli of their's... anyone else

AndrewDBlack was in fine form and VERY busy with the camera so I expect we'll see plenty of shots up soon

Right, back to bed for me now....

A thousand thanks to the FHT for a great night. The sight of Mr McGabhan "attempting" to leave the pub early was amusing:

"No, honestly I must leave, no, I must go, no, no, please allow me to withdraw gracefully ...

..... a drink? Mine's a beer, thankyouverymuch"

Good to also see Allycat and Floating Onion (how are you feeling?), CitizenED, Mark, Georgia and Mr Georgia (yes Georgia we WILL organise the Xmas party), Mockney P and Mrs Mockers(:))), Jah Lush, Bagpuss (I didnt take offence, honest), Bellenden Belle, Brendan and a whole bunch of others that I didnt get a chance to talk to plus the ladies up the corner.

Roll on the EDF Curry tasting .. just need to get a date.

I woke up sweating from a nightmare this morning. I was being chased by a gang of giant quadraped chickens. Managed to snap out of it just as one of them attempted to nibble me . . .

Really enjoyed meeting everyone last night. Great crowd. Thank you Georgia for organising it and to the FHT for the light refreshments and of course Mark who's made it all possible. I can't remember too much, but my face muscles ache which is a good sign!

. . . I think we'll have Lamb this Sunday . . .

I'd never been to the FHT before, but it's a nice pub and the food was amazing considering it was supposed to be nibbles.

Also for any of you wondering, I walked a certain gentleman home cos he was none too steady on his feet and I wanted to make sure he got home safely.

I didn't realise until later it may have looked a bit suspect leaving at the same time!

Couldn't POSSIBLY guess which gentleman you mean CWALD ;-)

Actually now that I'm up and about I feel fine - it was that "just awake" feeling which was a worry

Tillie: The Louisa that Ko refers to is in fact Lady MacGabhann who at the Forum birthday party met Nero who then asked who she was - she replied "Louisa" . Nero's face was priceless. We bumped into Ko on Thursday and told her the story, so....

(And Louisa if you're reading this it was all meant well - and why aren't you posting these days?)

Nice to see everyone again and meet a few new people. It was a good venue too. I think I may be popping my head around their door again sometime.

I left at about 12:30 without saying my farewells. Not because I?m rude you understand but because a previous attempt at leaving had inexplicably ended up with me being, very kindly, bought another pint. Thanks Raj and Georgia.:)-D

After that I was feeling just a little unstable. So in a brief and rare moment of almost adult-like responsibility I hopped it before the voice in my head could convince me that switching to spirits would be a good idea.

    • Hello.  A parcel for someone at 64B Blenheim Grove has been dumped at my address.  If anyone from 64B is in this forum, please get in touch!
    • CPR Dave is anti-dogs. Each to their own  I think my dog has perhaps grown a bit less nervy about the fireworks in the last few weeks, interestingly. Our last dog had no problems with them until he reached old age, when he became petrified.  CPR Dave - it's not just sounds of the metropolis they hate, mine collapses in fear when he hears thunder too
    • There's quite a difference between going for a run around the footpaths and trying to sit quietly for an afternoon in a wide, grassy area and enjoying the peace & nature. The other two grassy areas in the park are used for sports, and both had barriered trackway running through them. The Parkrun had to be cancelled for at least three weeks, iirc. I'm concerned by your continued reference to "the rye" - the event is held in the park, not on the rye (common). There is a big difference, despite the organisers and council artificially amalgamating the whole area when trying to convince everyone that it's only a small area that is closed off. The railings & gates enclosing the park are a big clue...
    • So have you cancelled your contract with InPost / Yodel now? If so, that's probably caused hundreds of parcels to be stuck in limbo, as they've said to me before that they can't redirect them to a different store. I have a parcel that was refused by you twice, the last time on 5/12, and since then there's been no updates, despite me calling them 3 times. They just say it's being investigated, but if they now can't physically deliver to you then that is obviously the issue. So much for shopping for Christmas presents early, looks like I'll never get them now.
