OK. Seeing as ED has now turned into Nappy Valley, I thought this would be the best place to ask some sound advice for a special gift for my brother and (french) sister-in-law's baby due very soon.

I don't want to buy a ?65 petit bateau / brora cardi grown out of in 2 weeks (which they've asked for - the cardi not the make) but what I'd really like is something hand made and special - and original. I don't have children, so I really have no clue about what someone might like , but I'd like some input from mums as to what is special!

Thanks so much!

hi what about a voucher for a keepsake for after the baby's birth, for a photo shoot, or a hand/foot casting session. We were bought vouchers for both of these and love looking at the pics and how small our baby was when born. There is many things like this available, you can get kits to take imprints of your babies finger prints to be made into cufflinks, necklaces, charm bracelets etc. Kits for making canvases of your babies foot etc...

Thanks Helen. I have a page on Facebook which shows the sort of things I make, and I am happy to knit to order if you have something in particular you would like made (my prices don't even come near to ?65, that's crazy money!):

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!
    • Hi  I really thought I'd seen a more recent post on the forum about home education meet ups. I can't find it though. • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
