Pimms, cucumber & e-coli

Ah, the old "alcohol as as a disinfectant" approach.

I tend to use this with great success in the winter - a glass of good Scotch disinfects the upper throat, keeping colds and coughs at bay - or alternatively contributing to curing colds & coughs. It's a multi functional excuse to drink good Scotch.

Apparently cucumber has been exonerated. They now think it may have been lettuce or tomatoes.

Doesn't Germany still spray human sewage on its fields as fertiliser?

But since Hendrick's already has cucumber in it it I find adding it a bit less inspired. In my G & T it's lovely.

*It's the lettuce, always the lettuce.

helena - yay! Same as you, I sometimes throw in some cucumber to the mix.

I really like Tanqueray, also partial to Plymouth and the London one with the Beefeater on the label.

Not so keen on Bombay Sapphire for some reason. Haven't tried Hendricks yet. What happened to gin palaces? ;)

I currently have Hendricks and Tanqueray 10 on the go since they suit different moods. Hendricks is more gentle. The Tanqueray 10 is perfect on a Friday night when I really want a G&T. It has to be Fevertree tonic though - so much nicer than Schweppes or Britvic.

Sipsmith's gin is also rather nice. And I once had a bottle of Junipero gin which is made in San Francisco by the people who make one of my favourite beers, Anchor Steam, which was rather good too - quite aromatic but robust.

I do like Pimms but had a few Pimms accidents a few summers back so I'm now banned by my friends from making jugs. I intentionally introduced one group to Pimms Royale (where you replace the lemonade with champagne/cava) and inadvertently introduced another group to Pimms Mexicana (where you replace the lemonade with doctored stuff that someone had previously added tequila to)
