Back to a more lighthearted subject than the breast feeding . . . Am wondering how much longer I'll be able to enjoy the luxury of a morning and a post lunchtime nap. Miss JB is nearly 9 months and currently sleeps for about an hour around 9 am and then for an hour to an hour and a half around 1pm. She wakes at about 6.15 am and is exhausted by 9am and so the thought of her staying up till lunchtime seems.. . . Umm painful! When did your little one drop their morning nap? Did they do it by themselves or did it require some coercion ie by gradually reducing the length of the nap.
We held onto it for AGES - finally dropped at 17m (!) after shortening and phasing it out from 16m. Mine woke really early too - but there is a school of thought that says they wake early but know they will get a catch up in a couple of hours! Dropping it deeply painful process - lots of near misses falling asleep in the buggy on way back for lunch, tantrums over lunch etc. And we moved the lunchtime nap forward to about 12.30 (was sleeping at 2). I reckon you've got some time yet!
Daughter dropped hers at 13 months (was fairly quick to do so by herself - took about a week, but I had to move lunch and lunch naps forwards for months as she was knackered by 11.30am!). My son is 14 months and still very much in need of his.....not sure when its going to go yet! I'm going to wait and see and let him drop it by himself - he is also an early waker so needs his bed by 9am.

Thanks all - will stop fretting about losing my morning tv session for the time being.

Mockers - I once worked with an eminent hospital consultant who in the middle of clinic would stop and say I need a nap. He'd sit with his head on his desk for 5 mins and then open his eyes and pick up the case notes for the next patient as if nothing had happened.

My (sleep loving) son kept his right up to around 18/19 months, my (not so sleep loving) daughter dropped hers at about 9 months. Oh how I loved that little bit of time at 9am when my son was in bed, I used to have a late breakfast and a shower and it was bliss. Changed days now!

    • Any cyclist using Nairne Grove should have noticed the dangerous school streets bollard which was missing its metal cover, leaving it extremely dangerous to cyclists due to its ridiculous location on the corner. I'm amazed it hadn't been dealt with before but I reported it to the Council and within a few days it was sorted. As someone who broke a bone in a fall onto tarmac not long ago, I hope no one was injured in the meantime.  In future anyone can easily report dangerous road defects using:  https://www.fillthathole.org.uk/
