SR
I have tickets for the cinema today and have just read the staff are on strike - does this mean the cinema is closed? thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/180261-is-the-picture-house-open-today/ Share on other sites
Penguin68
No, almost certainly it just means you will have to cross a picket line to attend, I would guess. Committed trade's unionists (it is the BECTU sector of Prospect that is striking) may choose not to. SR
Thanks Penguin, I support the strikers they should have the london minimum wage. I'd pay a wee bit more for that. Today i have 2 kids that are expecting to see Coco and I dont fancy letting them down so will go, not sure if the strikers want people to not attend. ianr
You can get refunds on unused tickets, but no later than 48 hours before show time. https://www.picturehouses.com/Terms Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/180261-is-the-picture-house-open-today/#findComment-1213447 Share on other sites
Robert Poste's Child
I believe the dispute is about wanting the London Living Wage. If they weren't getting the minimum wage Picturehouse would be breaking the law and there would be no need for 18 months of strikes. I have actually emailed them to ask if they pay the LLW but no response. But still very interested to know if Peckhamplex (which I use regularly) manages to offer such cheap tickets by not paying LLW. Robert Poste's Child
I bet PH makes a lot on food and drink too. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/180261-is-the-picture-house-open-today/#findComment-1213608 Share on other sites
PSJ
I support the LLW for PH and all staff where possible. But I do love the cinema so can't bring myself to do a full boycott. However, I avoid buying food/drink there as a partial protest, and I've let PH management know this.
