Hi I?m pregnant with my second and looking for double buggy choices. There will be a 16months gap between the two. I am looking for a slim one that fits in bus possibly, and through my door, that folds possibly with both seats attached as I fly to my family once or twice a year. What?s your experience as double buggy users? Also budget is low.

Thanks

We have an Oyster Max. Kids were 22 months apart. Pretty happy with it, over time (nearly 3 years) have had to replace both front wheels (?19 each) and it seems to be a known issue. My main thing was it had to fit on the bus so I didn't want side-by-side, and to have the baby facing parent (it also goes the other way). They are pricey, so unless you could get second hand it's probably out. The best looking cheaper one I have seen which is very similar in looks to Oyster is the Hauck one. Mixed reviews online so take a look - main one seems to be toddler seat has a ridge at the top of seat so when they get taller it's not comfortable - could always put a cushion or padding there I guess. Not sure if it folds flat. For travelling we went with 2 small individual buggies. Early days the sling was great for the plane too for youngest. Is it worth getting a cheap double to leave at your family's house? Then taking a single and a sling for the journey? I can't think of any doubles I know of that fold with both seats attached from when I did my research but that was nearly 3 years ago.
Have you considered using a sling in the first few months while your eldest is still quite young then attaching a buggy board to your current buggy once your eldest is over 2? I had a Bugaboo Bee and buggy board and used a Connecta sling. Really worked for us and we travelled to Australia with our buggy/sling too.
Buy one second hand-if you don?t get on with it sell it on and buy another second hand. You will lose very little. I?ve had Phil and teds and side by side. Latter is vastly better for the kids. Former fine for when younger is teeny if you use the bassinet. I?ve also done the sling and single buggy-great if you get on with the sling and baby is happy in I (soft wrap type better when they are v young, Manduca and ergo better once head control there). Avoid bjorn-kills your back. If you can borrow a wrap cheapest option initially. Some side by sides fit through standard doors (think out and about but do your homework). Buggy board works well from age 3+. Kids are all different-my third hated sling and buggy but was ok in side by side with brother. Second was fine in sling options then no 1 went on buggy board, but has a much bigger gap than you. I?d suggest side by side given the age gap-airlines can knackered your buggy so get a couple of cheap singles as suggested above for flying-I?ve had 2 buggies and a car seat broken on flights!

    • Blame me then as I will be voting for the Reform Party at the next general election after being a Conservative voter for many years.  Two tier Keir has just shot himself in the foot with his announcement about national insurance exemptions for Indian workers coming to the UK whilst he imposes the exact opposite on UK businesses.
    • I’m trying to organise a party for my teenage son and really don’t want to have to trek all the way to Goals in Beckenham. Does anyone know of any football pitches (Astro or concert) that you can hire on a Saturday?  thanks for your help.
    • Wouldn't vote for farage and his lot, so don't blame me.
    • Can't blame it just on Jazzer.  More than just one person to blame.  I'd start off with the Liv Dems going into coalition with the Tories.  But very much a six degrees of separation thing so we all must take a share of the blame 😔
