I was told *Bob* blew himself up but cannot remember who told me.

The others simply could not survive on their own and relied on each other for back-up.

They sort of all left at the same time.

You missed out Jah Lush the final member of the gang of five. The so called Cliche.

Logical reasoning as always :))

ETA: That was sarcastic, btw.

And now I'm off again to do busy things. Better ignore the forthcoming gap in my posting activity, it might put your theories at risk :))

On some forums by now someone would have accused these of all being the same person (whether or not their IP addresses matched or they'd been for a group curry - for a multi-login professional these problems are minor).

Maybe NONE of them actually ever existed. I dont recall knowingly ever meeting any of them. ???

Computer Generated. Would make more sense. Auto reply whenever the Fox posted. :)

I can assure you that The Curry Club members DO exist. I've met at least a dozen of them

and all at the same time.

Like Purple Bricks. Real People. Not just on line.

I too wonder how many of these characters exist. Not digging anyone specifically out here, but over the years a number of dubious aliases have popped up on here. I have always kept my screen name and have never posted from another, I am quite proud to say. Whatever people may think of me, they know where I post from. And I certainly never give fake reviews on here.

I've met Otta and ???? at forum drinks in the past and think I've met Jeremy too (I've met a Jeremy who is a friend of Otta's anyway). So they do exist, as does Strafer Jack.

I know loads of people on here "in real life".

Yes quite a few people have had more than one name, but to the best of my knowledge all the people you mention have posted on here saying they changed their name, and saying what their old and new ones were.

Most people already knew, anyway. They didn't keep it a secret particularly.

Very few people however deliberately change their name so that people won't know who they are, or post under more than one name simultaneously (unless for business purposes), or create whole false new "real/unreal life" characters for themselves.

Or go back and delete all their posts under one of their names under the impression that then they can't be identified (forgetting that even if they delete their own posts, they can't delete those posts of theirs which have been quoted by somebody else :)) )

And JohnL, yes, very easy to change IP address to fool admin, for example. Less easy to change your style of writing, and to keep your fake character's likes and dislikes and interests consistent over time.

Sorry for the slow responses Sue, I?ve been really busy. Haven?t had the time!

Seems bizarre to me that anyone would post under numerous different alias or identities. Too much time on their hands etc. It still baffles me as to why so many posters here are obsessed by ?logical reasoning?. If that were the case, then major institutions such as religion would also be pulled up every 5 minutes. Logic is subjective.

Your trolling seems to becoming less subtle, Louisa.

I'm not even taking the bait of "logic is subjective" :))

However, if you are so proud of having always had one forum name, maybe you could go one step further and tell us where we can find you in real life?

You can find me at any Goose Is Out! gig at The Ivy House, which is where I was last night, and you can even ask for me by my forum name. Because it's the same as my real name.

You can even see an (old) picture of me on our website http://www.thegooseisout.com

When there were forum drinks, lots of forum members turned up in real life and told people who they were on the forum.

And yes posting under more than one name is bizarre, but then some people have their reasons.

ETA: And just so that you and Dulwich Fox can continue to monitor my posting habits, I'll make it easy for you and let you know that I'm off to do other things now, but I expect I may be back again later today sometime :)) :)) :))

Once again Sue, predictably, you can?t accept that someone else may have a different opinion to you, so your easy way out is to immediately accuse them of trolling. Logical reasoning is what you?re asking for from the likes of me and others on the forum, and yet your response to my post is that I am ?trolling?- and that is logical how? Let?s face it, whatever response I give to you on here, I will no doubt be accused of trolling. That?s totally illogical in my opinion.

On the point of exposure off of the forum, that is entirely upto the individual. If you like that level of real world interaction then that?s absolutely fine. *Bob* was never pulled up on his real world antics, and yet somehow it?s ok to use that one on me? As I said, never posted under other names and YES I was invited by StraferJack to the drinks on various occasions, and as he would testify I?m sure, extenuating circumstances prevented me from attending.

And your own life consists of reading this thread in the lounge on an online forum and posting your fifth post in nearly a year on it?

That's funny :)) :)) :))

I'm very happy with the life I've already got, thanks.

But thanks for the "advice" :)) :)) :))

ETA: That last line was sarcastic, btw :)) :)) :))

I'm really hoping that these smileys irritate you. Mean, I know :)) :)) :))

Who the hell do you think you?re talking to? Barely any posting history, coming here for a fight. Bugger off!

So your point is ..... ??

You've never actually divulged your real identity to anybody on here, although on various occasions you could have done? :))

The drinks were open to anybody, you didn't need to be invited. Unless we are talking about some more selective forum drinks than the ones which were posted up on here and changed pubs from month to month, and which I used to occasionally go to?

In which case, I was never invited to the ones for the select few :))

My point is, you talk as though not attending forum drinks or publicly displaying your real life self on a internet forum is somehow strange? I would have thought most people would be dubious about doing that, it?s not a points scoring thing. If you choose to do that, all power to you. I choose not to, and your point is?

"Sort it out" ?!?!?! What does it have to do with you, exactly?

You don't have to read it!

Leopards don't change their spots.

ETA: Oh, and it's the lounge. Lounge is different.

As in real life, conversations may take various directions.

    • I can't really comment on the general West/East/Village discussion.  It's all out of my price range, and like others I expect, we moved here when the area was much more affordable and dare I say much of it 'ordinary'.  But was thinking exactly the same as New Wave regards to SE23 as a place to live, and convenient for SE22 etc for visiting including buses and an easy cycle.  You have hills of course in Forest Hill but this adds to the charm (and from a lot of places the views). At the edge of Forest Hill you have the best pub in the country, the Blythe Hill Tavern.  Pubs can get better, and can get worse, as they do everywhere, including Forest Hill, but the Blythe is consistently great for the craic and the beer (no restaurant but the pizza van comes at weekends).
    • Forest Hill area around Manor Mount/Horniman gardens...Or Off of Honor Oak Rd good transport Links (Overground and Southern to London Bridge)  decent Bus Routes (P4 goes past Dulwich College and into the Village). Very easy to get to Crystal Palace park Horniman Gardens and museum on the doorstep Horniman Triangle kids playground Dulwich Woods and Dulwich Park and riding school in walking distance. A few decent pubs and again easy to go to Peckham, and ED for good resturants. A few excellent coffee shops where you can get lunch. Theres a brilliant Thai resturant (Matoom) and a very good Japanesese (Sushi Garden) and 2 family friendly pubs/bars that serve good food (The Signal and Sylvan Post). a fantastic butcher, a couple of Deli's and a Sainsbury for all the other 'stuff' There is also a local pool and small gym We've lived in this area (Near Horniman border of Lewisham and Southwark) for 13 years having moved from Notting Hill. It feels very safe and is family friendly..We were originally looking to buy in Dulwich but did'nt want a small victorian terrace we got more for our money here and have been very happy.
    • Indeed Alice, but the traffic illustrated and those affected by it really don't count; they are examples of necessary collateral damage in the council's fight for the 'greater good'.
