I got my parking ticket at Sainsbury's DKH rescinded as I moaned that I was actually shopping and queuing at the till and having a coffee (in Sainsbury's Starbucks) and in that case I'm a valid customer who happens to shop slowly (I had my ?120 receipt too). They've let me off as a gesture of goodwill :)

The interesting thing is I've been told if I'm going to do that again tell the customer services people and they'll extend my stay (for 30 mins or whatever).

Anyone who wants to say two and a half hours is too long to shop can but maybe useful for someone

If you've got time to leave a comment as pointless as that, the evidence would appear to contradict your opening clause.

I would respond to this but like I said earlier, I have far better things to do then respond to your rather rude message.......enjoy the supermarket car parks, there's one next to Lidl in Peckham you might enjoy too

The only rudeness was your stupid, pointless trolling comment. As per my comment on another thread, grow up or move on.

  • 4 weeks later...
In past threads on this kind of thing people said the tickets aren't enforceable as they're on private land and done by a private company. Does anyone know if that's true? Though even if it is, I think it would be stressful to face them down about it.

I think they are enforceable but as an invoice rather than a fine. Something like agreeing to the T&Cs by parking there in the first place, and the T&Cs state that the parking is free for 2 hours and then ?100 (or some other ridiculous amount). Failure to pay can end up in a civil court case which can result in court costs and so on.

As this has gone on for years, I would think that the general driving public would have wised up to them if they were not enforceable.
