tommy
Evening. Can anyone tell me if road tax for my car will increase if the MOT shows that the co2 emissions have gone over the current band that the car is inAm thinking of buying a car right on the cusp of a band, and don't want a nasty shockThanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18587-car-question/ Share on other sites
Frankito
I wouldn't have thought so based on an MOT. I imagine these thresholds are set in stone. Probably best to check out their website as it's a reasonable question which they are boundto have been asked before. If you like the car, take the pain.. Townleygreen
The thresholds are set in stone. There is no way an MoT result can affect your car tax at present. It is generic for your particular model. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18587-car-question/#findComment-457323 Share on other sites
trizza
As townleygreen said, the result of your MOT makes NO difference to your road tax band. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18587-car-question/#findComment-457546 Share on other sites

I re-taxed my car today... I had to present a Valid MOT and Insurance Document. You cannot Tax a car if it has failed the MOT. or is not insured. Recent legislation now requires you to have Insurance even if your car is off the road. Tommy:- If the immissions levels did not cause the car to Fail the MOT you should be OK.
