There something of the EDF hipster > mass market > not hip anymore happening here? Like those certain beaches of Thailand, Glastonbury and probably parts of Hoxton in 1989, it was all great until it was somehow decided that lesser sophisticates had got in on the act.

Instead, I'd like to write something sensible and intelligent about once good businesses losing their way when confronted with ?? signs but I'm on holiday (staycation in rainy Lochinver hipsters).

Oi Mr Ben as a regular of Glastonbury it just gets better and better - stay away from the Pyramid and the Other Stage and go with the right mindset and hope for reasonable weather and there's still nothing on earth to touch it. When you're tired of Galstonbury you're tired of life (or too old).

Yeah and food is food is food.. With all respect Mr Fox that's poppycock. Yes fat is important for taste but that doesn't mean that cheap burgers are the tastiest.

On the subject of good local burgers, went to the Victoria in Peckham Rye in the week and it was a beaut (chorizo scotch egg starter wasn't half bad either!)

This thread got me back to the Rye on Thursday. Two pints of ale and a cheeseburger and an order of onion rings. ?16.80 all told. And what had been a horrible, awful, no good day started to brighten wonderfully.

Whatever a Meatwagon burger does to my neurotransmitter balance (with the ale playing its important part of course), I like.

Finally made it to The Rye (very small baby makes life tricky sometimes) and had glorious burgers. But I see this is a 'summer eesidency'. Anyone know the sad date for packing up? We're off on holiday for a fortnight and I think we may have made it just in time to wave goodbye.

    • Does anyone have any experience reducing the solar gain from their windows and roof lights?  E.g. using window film, low u-value glass and/or external shutters? What and who do you recommend?  How much did it cost and when?  We have a fairly standard south facing ED terrace with Velux windows (internal blinds only), a roof light, uPVC double-glazed sash windows and wooden double-glazed french door all fitted 2015ish. Trying to future proof the house against future hot summers without resorting to air con.
    • I think these kids are starting to come from the park into residential road I live of a road very close to the park and just had a kid knock on door stood with his tongue hanging out clearly trying to intimidate and his friend was laughing. Is there anything  I can do in terms of registering it with the police ?   edit - called 101 and gave a very detailed  description (sorry I’d have deleted the post  if I could !)
    • Well, he’s just turned up. 17 days.  very thin and seems a bit traumatised. Presumably been trapped somewhere.  I’d love to know where!
    • I contacted Niko based on ED Forum reviews and he lived up to expectations. I contacted him on Friday and we arranged for him to come check my faulty toilet on Monday morning. Within a couple of hours he had fixed the issue including going to buy the spare parts. He has a no nonsense approach and you know you are in good hands. Highly recommended.
