Yes, for the time being. I'm English but after retiring from the Army Air Corps I married an American woman and lived there (North Carolina) for 18 years. I'm been sent to help expand our (Xe Services, formerly Blackwater) European procurement department. We hope to return to America when I'm done here.

The last few exchanges exemplify my feelings aboutthe sharp jabs with sticks that seem to fly v readily!

I am a local. Loads of local parents know me by name, face and through my classes. I do know that some of them are forum members, and other members come to know me having been recommended to my classes by other forum members. ( if any of you are reading this - many thanks :) ) I don't always post on sing and sign topics. I do crop up very occasionally elsewhere. (here for instance!)

I think I've been a member of the forum for at least a couple of years. Maybe that's why my posts are possibly more moderate thAn other people's. I have a business/personal reputation to uphold! As far as I'm aware,I have not been insulting to anyone here. I tend to keep my private views private, I suppose!

I think the nature of this forum- and I guess similar ones elsewhere - would make rich pickings for a social psy

chologist!

Goodness me, no. Everyone knows that unions are strictly populated by numb nuts, nut-job left wing trolls.

Nothing. I just thought that Esmeralda Shufflebottom was a bit of a mouthful.

Fuzzytrish, what an hoest thread, bless you for being so candid.

Whikst there are some 'nasties' out there I am sure there are probably fewer than you think. Some people like the Billy big spuds persona and tend to pull it off rather well.... Others are just very dry and what you see is a sense of humour and a bit of banter which, does sometimes go a bit too far.

And as for that Salsaboy, tut tut tut, this isa famiky website ....... :0

Thanks frankito.

Trying to be succinct.....

Your explanation is very interesting. I know that I do take things very literally- as said- so without the benefit of being able to read other communication cues like Body language, tone of voice, facial expression, I can see that im interpreting what's written too directly.

So if I've offended anyone, I am really sorry. The written word is so full of dangers...! ( for a simple soul like wot I am).

Trish x

Fuzz-T, why do you think you have offended anyone? I don't remember reading anything from you before and I usually do remember the baddies as I try to laugh with them.

You seem like a decent sort so just stick with the good people (like me of course!) and you will be fine.

Nothing right about me. I'm thoroughly evil.

If anyone says anything different I'm going to despoil you with the moderate intellect, average prose and persistence that has made *Bob*, Jah Lush and Ted Max reserve a special place in hell for me. Snobs.

What I'm going to do though is wait until they need a hand and be insufferably patronising when I profer it. That'll really crown it.

In the meantime Fuzzy, get some balls ;-)

Can we get back to posting about strange looking men following timid women down the road at night pulling a suitcase cos I'm bored with all the rioting stuff now.

Time to move on guys, no revolution here, so get back to inanity now.

Frankito - you're a darling :) I don't know if I've offended anyone - but thought I might have. My learning disability does cause me this sort of doubt!

Alan Medic - fair point, if somewhat cheeky. When I signed up for the forum, I was of the impression that it wasn't the done thing to use one's own, real name, so I followed what appeared to be convention. I don't think I can change that now can I? (Without risking being accused of attempting to mislead others?!) I'm now known as Fuzzyboots, bit as I say, I have nothing to hide about who I am in real life :). I usually sign off as Trish or Trish Cummings in my posts.

Trish/fuzzy/superlative sing and sign teacher ;)

A contortionist can hide in a suitcase. http://boingboing.net/2011/06/08/contortionist-thief.html Be careful out there.

Quite right too.

You will stoop to ANYTHING!

*wonders if Doc lives at #73 and/or has Sandi Toksvig fixation*

ETA: Remember what I said about the Chapel - I dare you... it's just sitting there... wide open...

    • Miranda Sawyer of the (once) Observer has done a piece on festival on Insta which might be of-interest.  Councils are private companies, imo. They make money for themselves, imo.  I do not think by law that they have to follow anything brought up by a consultation, this is for 'face' only - hence, LTNs and everything else.
    • My understanding is the "free event" is 100% Gala, nothing to do with the council. Obviously Gala will still make money from the food & drink that they are trying to coerce punters into buying on their social media posts. Their costs will be negligible due to already having the infrastructure in place for Gala. So Gala are trying to appear community minded by providing this "free event", but the real goal is to set a precedent for a fourth day's festival - which surely no one could possibly object to?!? - in preparation for applying (again) for two three-day festivals spread over two weekends. It's only another two days, right, and the site & equipment is already there, so why would anyone object?!? More money for the council, much more money for Gala, win-win right? But yet another week of our park taken away from us, too, and another 18,000 people trampling & littering the park, and another week of disturbance for the native birds & wildlife...
    • Meson Don Felipe on The Cut was my go to place for many years. Though it's now many years since I was there. 10-15 minute walk from the Tate. If you go can you tell me what it's like nowadays?
    • Doubt you would have got much change out of £150.00 for battery and certainly having forked out for it, best to use your car. I recently sold  my car via webuyanycar.com - very pleasant experience & was roughly what I was expecting. Pop your bangers reg jnto their website to get an idea of price - they do send e mails once a fortnight/month just as an aid for you. Easy enough to delete - don’t even have to read valuation. They literally buy any car - if you can’t get it to them, they will charge you to get it there or recommend a co that will do it for you. Must say, mine was a 2014 reg and whilst a bit suspicious, paid extra to get money into my account as needed it for next car but was assured funds had I not gone down route I took would be in my account within 5 days. I now live in the country - every time I have been back to Dulwich and surrounding area, normally get a fine for driving at wrong time or parking at  wrong time so if I drive now, park in West or East Dulwich and do everything else by public transport and walking.  Were I still to be living in ED then before I left was pondering this very issue but since I have been back regularly for health reason I no longer drive but take the train and then buses, walk or Uber. Much cheaper than running a car and had I stayed, that would have been the course I would have taken. I don’t go out everyday, have an allotment or job to go to or family so in my case, would be cheaper not to have a car.  Was truely shocked   at the cost of second hand cars…..but where I now live only has a smattering of buses so no choice but to have wheels to get from A to B etc.
