The way I saw it it was a 50-50 challenge and the ball was there to be won. Just unlucky that he broke Aaron Ramsey's leg. Unfortunately these things happen in football. I sincerely hope the lad makes a full recovery because I think he has a very good future in front of him. I reckon Cesc Fabregas will be off to Barcelona next season and Ramsey seems his natural successor.

What a pathetic excuse, if he had any decency in him he would offer his sympathies to the lad but we're talking about Ferguson here.

Of course the fact that Wenger is not a British manager and therefore incurs the wrath of all and sundry has nothing to to do with it. It is timely I guess that these words appear in todays Daily Express and sum up my feelings entirely. "I despise Tony Pullis's team play. A lot of what they did against Arsenal was outside the law and outside the spirit of sport." The challenge on Ramsey may have been unfortunate, it's nonetheless unacceptable, and by the way you don't have to prove intent to be sent off for a challenge, reckless play is also deemed worthy of a red as is use of excessive force I believe.

How do you know he hasn't?

That would spoil the mood of the tabloid editor Atila has shouting inside his head.

One of the main reasons Arsenal haven't won anything for four or five seasons is because they've got it into their heads that teams like to beat them up. They got this idea from their manager. The longer Wenger perpetuates this idea that Arsenal are persecuted on the pitch the longer the team will be phased by teams who play in a style they can't handle. In every sport I applaud the players and teams who interpret the rules, play within them, and use them to their advantage. Teams outside the top four have to take everything they can get and if that means they use their phsyical strength against other teams or they park the bus or they have a long throw-in specialist who sends other teams into a tizzy every time he gets a throw-in in their half then good luck to them.

Maybe if Wenger, Gallas etc. etc. spent a bit less time moaning about the way the opposition play against them and worked on how to combat it they'd be a bit more successful.

Thought you were in ignoring mood. As for moaning, how is it the purple nosed Jock came by the moniker of Fergusmoan, coincidence perhaps?

Sandboy's spittle flecked rant against me is sad because he suports all thats unedifying about English football. Aggression over skill, physicality over guile, no wonder the English National team have won sod all in years. As long as there are people that belive football played the way the likes of Stoke, and in yester year Bolton, play the game is acceptable, then this countrys national team is destined to be remain in the footballing dark ages. Let's get an English team full of Titus Brambles, Emile Heskeys, Peter Crouchs, or people of the Dean Windass mould and we'll put the fear of god in to all comers. NOT.

You accuse Wenger of complaining, as if he is the only manager guilty of this, I simply pointed out that your manager is not averse to same, hence nickname.

No spittle Atila. Just an opinion. Not all of us sit at our computers red faced, banging the keyboard with our fists because someone doesn't like the same team as us. I'm afraid it's the opinon of a lot of people, not just me.

Since when did you win the league with guile? Football games are won in two ways by playing to your strengths and by luck. The teams you complain about play to their strengths against other teams weaknesses. The Arseanl team weakness is that they don't like to be challenged physically ergo teams play on that.

I see you couldn't resist calling me names again.

"I have seen them (Stoke) recently in games and they have a good mixture in their play." and "Stoke are a good football-playing team. We'll have to beat them on the ground and play at a good pace if we are to come through."

Arsene Wenger's view of Stoke last Friday.

Brilliant. If something's not been reported that's worth getting all agitated it hasn't happened.

Arsenal as it happens are indeed one of the most fouled against teams in the Premiership. They have more possession so it's fairly logical it seems, even if they're not being targeted. They're second most fouled as it goes. Most fouled? The victims which are Hull City.

And equally my opinion of Mancs is shared by many, why do you think my opinion of your team, or anybody elses is unique to me.In the same way that some may share your views, unacceptable as this may seem to you, they also share mine.

I know your opinon of my team and funnily enough I know you aren't the only person to hate them. What has that got to do with anything?

I actually like to watch Arsenal play and I think they are a good side. I think that Wenger struggles to hang on to key players and that's one of the reasons that they haven't been as successful as people would have expected in the last few years. I also happen to think that they are mentally fragile because of this idea that they are being persecuted. Ferguson plays a similar game at United and the 'siege mentality' worked for him. It obviously doesn't work at Arsenal so Wenger, as a professional, shoudl dtop playing it up and start rethinking the psychological side of his team management.

I'm sorry you've lost me here, you seem to say on the one hand that you aren't alone in the dislike of my team and I simply replied that equally there those amongst us have the same opinion of yours, that's what its got to do with it, its quite straight forward. If you believe that the Arsenal should resort to playing the Stoke/Bolton/Hull way, I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than watch the beautiful game being reduced to a version of Rollerball.

If you re-read my post I didn't say anything about disliking your team. I made a point about Wenger going on about teams being physical with Arsenal and how I thought that, to paraphrase, it was a load of guff and many people agreed with me. No comment on liking or disliking your team. That's where you are confused, you just hate Man utd and anything to do with them, fair enough, I was talking about people, including me disliking Arsenal's 'we're being picked on' attitude.

You are confusing the discussion that is happeneing on the thread with the discussion that's happening in your head. The one where you hate Man Utd above all else.

    • I had certainly heard that Helen Hayes was planning to stand down from being an MP - although I don't think I've seen that confirmed anywhere that I recall. If so, that is a shame, she was generally very competent and she knew the area well. A very good constituency MP and  had performed reasonably creditably in a minor Front Bench role. A loss to Parliamentary politics, in my view, if she is standing down.

    • Sadly this means for those of us who live within this ward the brilliant Helen Hayes will no longer represent us (that is if she's standing again). The Labour candidate for Lewisham West and East Dulwich is Ellie Reeves who has been MP for West Lewisham and Penge before the redrawing of boundaries.  She is sister to Rachel Reeves.
