If memory serves me correctly, didn't Paul Scholes refuse to play for Manchester United against the Arsenal in the league about 10 years ago, a game which his side lost 4 nil?

That was when he was banished to the reserves who played in that LC tie. Actually Stan Collymore refused to play for Liverpool reserves too when he was there. But Tevez was on the bench so his case is somewhat different. It's hard to know what Tevez really wants. He knows he can't move anywhere yet, he's earning a good salary, what's wrong with playing a bit of football too? He may not like Mancini but heck it's his job and you don't have to like the boss. The money should be compensation enough.

Me too, are there any regular social events?

I believe not just the Rodwell decsion to be wrong, Van der Vaart clearly handled the ball to score Tottenhams first goal but none of the officials gave it. The decsion to disallow Wolves a perfectly legitimate goal was also questionable to say the least. Perhaps this will just add fuel to the fire regarding video replays for match officials?

Isn't it just the purest of pleasures to see the mire Forest are in.

And yet the nature of that ghastly club is that they thrive out of adversity. When last the East Midlands Juve had bested them on all fronts, a gobby northener arrived and propelled them within no time to a level beyond all precedent and prediction. Even now, diminished by dipsomania, scandal and malfeasance, they pull in crowds three times that of more deserving clubs north of the Trent.

But perhaps this time the times are changing.

It's debatable whether it was handball or not. Certainly none of the Arsenal players appealed at the time. And as for video replays I think that could spoil the flow of the game. I'd only go for goal line technology though. Too many times a ball has been clearly over the line and not given.

Very debatable, and inconclusive from replays...same applies to the Wolves 'goal' This has been said many times before, these decisions tend to even themselves out over the course of a season. I'd rather keep the flow of the game and rely on the officials to make an honest decision at the time. However, if like Mr Atkinson they make an obvious howler, they should show some accountability and issue an apology/explanation of their decision.
The one thing I like about Fabio is that he tends to only pick players who are actually playing regular club football, not going on past glories/reputation i.e Ferdinand...as for posh bloke, let's hope he doesn't stagnate like Walcott seems to have done at L'Arse

    • Missing Cat! 11 months old/ Our friend, Coco, has gone missing. Last seen evening of 31st October near top of Henslowe rd where it meets Underhill Rd in SE22. We know she has started wandering up Friern Rd and further we guess but we imagine she has been spooked by Halloween / Fireworks goings on. She is a grey Siberian mix with some brown stripes down her, very friendly and likes to eat. Please let us know
    • That said, organised displays could be on Saturday before and after and the actual day, and private ones could just not have the loud ones.  It’s all down to accessibility and people caring/not caring
    • The problem this year is that 5th November falls on a Wednesday. So some places will be bringing their "bonfire night" forward to Saturday 1st and some will be knocking it back to Saturday 8th and there'll probably be a few that just go with Wednesday 5th anyway. If you're doing a public display, having it on a weekend gets more crowds. Which basically means a solid week of fireworks.
    • Fireworks in this area do feel totally incessant at this time of year, almost every evening there is terrible noise. I feel great concern for wildlife, pets (I have a senior cat who hates them), as well as people who struggle with PTSD etc. Last year I even had people setting them off in front of my home. Tonight and yesterday evening have been particularly bad. Is there anything we can do as a community to prevent this? What action can we take? Surely we shouldn’t be expected to just put up with it every year for weeks on end!
