Can anyone tell me how no one picks up the thousands of empty seats at the Emirates, which are all counted as attending.


Is this like Man Ure and the dead season ticket holders


Whilst this question is grounded in vitriol I would still like to know why so many people pay money but don't turn up for the lesser matches.

I understand are England being told that they can't wear embroidered poppies on their shirts as they have political associations. Is this the same body that allowed a fascist dictator to present the World Cup back in 1978?

Because they can afford it? Dunno I'm guessing. Why does it bother you so much.

Not read that link, but I suspect some people with a lot of cash will buy the season ticket as a kind of status symbol, and will go to the matches that get them excited (Man U, Spurs, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool), but won't bother with the rest, because they can watch highlights on MOTD.


Not really huge footy supporters, but people who like the game, and can afford to be picky.


I'm sure you get this at most clubs, especially the "big" clubs.

Nor me, but I'm afraid it will get a lot worse before it gets better. I believe the football bubble will burst, but while clubs charge, and get paid, exorbitant prices, what's likely to change?

It bothers me for a number of reasons:


(a) These are season ticket holders that can't be bothered to attend, but don't pass them onto others.

(b) That Arsenal unlike the other 'big teams' seem to attract these type of fair weather supporters (clearly it isn't a money issue as they can afford season tickets in the first place, or they would make an attempt to resell the tickets on one of the authorised spiv sites).

© that they report attendances as at capacity when they are 10% or so below

(d) That I can't find anything on the web on this, where I would expect to find other people with similar gripes so I could feed that I had the moral high ground.


I suspect that it was the creation of a strong brand, and the sudden increase in capacity by over 20,000 that led to a new class of supporter who do not have the same loyalty as in the past.


But on the positive side, no sign, absolutely no indication, of any trouble when you go there as an away fan.

      You'd need to get a proper quote (or three) for instance removing a cast iron bath is a very different job from removing an acrylic one. Again what pipe work will be being joined into - matching old imperial pipes with modern metric ones is different from like to like, as is dealing with a copper or an iron distribution system. The amount (area) of retiling required is an issue, as will be the state of the wall behind the tiles. It may of course all be very plain sailing, or not. Have a first look at plumber recommendations on the relevant pages on this site. If it's all easy then 3 days work may be sufficient. But it could be a week if there are snags.

      Hi. Can anyone suggest a plumber for the job below? Replace bath tub with a shower enclosure, putting pipes to showerhead behind wall, re-titling damaged/removed tiles Also any idea of the costs involved for the labour as we will buy the items required?

      Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays!
