You'll have to get used to that BR. Lots of teams are now coming to Spurs and parking the bus. Fair play to Everton last night though, they at least had a go but never really troubled us and we could have won by a few more.

I reckon you're getting the jitters. :))

Mancinis gesture last night was calling for consistency- the Kompany sending off and Johnsons nothing doing now leaves defenders in limbo. They will be scared to tackle-ironically something Kompany said yesterday in his response to the red card not being rescinded.

Unlike Rooney >:D<

Touche BR...I've just received a mailshot flyer from WHUFC trying to flog tickets, ?10 off ?43/41/32 tickets...but it's the ?49 hospitality blurb that sells it for me, with accompanying mugshots of James Corden, Russell Brand, Phil Jupitus and wait for it...Shane Ritchie...bargain!..and strangely Paolo Di Canio too, don't they know he's the manager of Swindon now? :)

They've also got Katy Perry's pic next to Brand's...I don't think he's getting much hospitality from her box these days :)

I think it's far too early to worry about that particular match. Win or lose Spurs won't be out of it. In the back of my mind though is that United still have to go to all the other top 6 teams apart from Liverpool. That's 4 very loseable games. It could be a City Spurs race near the end of the season.

BR I seem to remember Citeh coming to the Arsenal not that far back and doing exactly the same to grind out a nil nil.

After Wolves at the weekend, I've noticed that five of Spurs' next six league games are against Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester United. If they are in the same position after that, or even better placed we can really start talking about the title, otherwise we can forget about it.

You don't know much about football, do you now Hugo?

The main point Wenger was making is that the shifting of games to fit in with TV scheduling can influence the outcomes of games. With the increase of managers being sacked over recent years, the managers' priority is to get points. A manager wanting to be entertaining and failing to get points is likely to get sacked. This is the hash reality of football.

Dead right UDT. I remember that game which was rearranged to suit TV and one team turned up a day late to find out they had lost 36-0. Their manager was a bit embarressed about losing the 3 points so easily but happy not to have picked up any more injuries apart from his big centre half who picked up a nasty knock on the head when leaving the coach.

"We were never really in the game" according to the manager, has got to be the understatement of the year.

    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
    • @Sephiroth you made some interesting points on the economy, on the Lammy thread. Thought it worth broadening the discussion. Reeves (irrespective of her financial competence) clearly was too downbeat on things when Labour came into power. But could there have been more honesty on the liklihood of taxes going up (which they have done, and will do in any case due to the freezing of personal allowances).  It may have been a silly commitment not to do this, but were you damned if you do and damned if you don't?
