Hmmm... not impressed Kenny. Surly auld bugger. Suarez was a bit lucky to still be on the pitch after kicking Scott Parker in the stomach. He may have got a booking for that but it could so easily have been a straight red card.

Still, I'm happy with a point. We had a quite a few players missing and Harry couldn't make it up there either. In the end I thought a draw was a fair result.

Chief football writer, BBC Sport at Anfield Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish welcomed Luis Suarez back from a lengthy absence in the draw with Tottenham but again said he should never have served a ban.

Uruguayan Suarez returned as a substitute in the 0-0 stalemate after an eight-game ban for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

"It's fantastic to have him back. He should never have been out in the first place," said Dalglish.

"Luis Suarez doesn't have anything to prove to anyone at Liverpool FC." Maybe not to Liverpool, but he sure as hell has a lot to prove to everybody else in the UK.

Fergie will be remembered for Fergietime, Wenger probably for 'not seeing it' but Dalglish is in danger of being remembered for his unswerving support for a player who is a sandwich short of a picnic. What a stupid thing to say about Suarez. I can only think he was trying to attract attention to himself so that the kick on Parker got less attention. Why else, particularly before a game against Man U?

I was thinking more about as a player. I've said many times on here that his managerial record is a bit flattering considering the teams.

I don't think I'd use the word disgrace, as it seems to be used for everything these days, but I've already said he was foolish.

You're right disgrace is pushing it - but he needs to distinguish between his usual withering, belittling, condescending manner to anyone who has the temerity to interview him after a game or dares criticise any of his players - and something as nasty, and with as much potential to do harm, as this.

A great player is how he will be remembered but there's a danger that when this is discussed in later years there will be a coughing and a shuffling of feet and a changing of topic.

He was a great player, but that memory only exists for those of us over a certain age. When I was a kid growing up, I loved watching him, but I just thought Bob Wilson was the bloke that presented Football Focus and Emlyn Hughes was a captain on Question of Sport. Even Greavesie was the bloke that made the Saint piss himself every Saturday afternoon.

There will be a generation now that don't remember Lineker and Hansen et al as players and eventually there will be another generation that don't remember Shearer his his peers.

Dalglish was a good player and a good manager. But the world has moved on since Dalglish last won a trophy. Racism is no longer tolerated and his support for Suarez is out of touch with the non football fans.
