I sort of feel like we were damned if we do and damned if we don't

don't pay Walcott enough and sell him? "The Exodus Continues"

pay him? "He's not really worth it"

to be slightly fair to Walcott, if I was him and saw Arshavin and co on 100ish a week I'd be pushing for equity too

We're offloading some expensive deadwood, we have the money so on balance I'm happier he is staying than not

But he is good enough? Jury is still out with the suspicion that he isn't - but we'll see

That is bloody shocking. Southampton have done well recently and hit a good run of form after a shaky start to the season. A great result at Chelsea in the week, only losing two games in their last twelve. And who the hell is Mauricio Pochettino? His record at Espanyol isn't that great. What the hell were the board thinking? What a way to treat the manager after all the good work he's done for them. I feel very sorry for Nigel Adkins and Southampton's fans. A very poor decision. If their form slumps now and they end up relegated then board have only got themselves to blame.
It was in Arsenal's interest to sign him up even if they eventually sell him, longer contract = bigger fee...don't forget he could've walked away for nothing in the summer. I think his alledged demand to play as a central striker would've put many potential suitors of. Wenger doesn't seem the type to bow to such demands, however Wenger's soundbites have been interesting lately...the perfomance against City was 'timid'...he was 'scared' that Walcott would leave...maybe not the one-eyed meglomaniac afterall...
Don't get me wrong, I think Walcott has lots of potential as a front man, and maybe the signing of the year for the gunners. I just dislike the way he's gone about his bussiness. He was interviewed after a match a couple of weeks back, and I just thought "you arrogant little turd". Shame, because I've always wanted to see him do well.
Walcott has definitely improved since coming inside recently, though there are times when he still does his headless chicken act rather well when he shows us that he's just a shit Aaron Lennon. His finishing has got better and he's scoring more. 100 grand a week is what you get these days for being half decent at a club like the Wanderers. If he can develop into the Henry type of role he craves up front then its money well spent and at 23 there is plenty of scope for improvement.
Bollocks! Sandro is out for the rest of the season. That's a fecking big blow to Spurs. He is an absolute beast of a player. He's been brilliant for us. Scott Parker can replace him but sometimes runs out of gas after 75 mins and at 32 isn't getting any younger.

If you have one of those remote control atmosphere generators can I borrow it for my visit to the Emirates for Wednesday's rearranged Boxing Day game? It'll be my very first visit to the Library - thinking of wearing my crepe sole brogues.

    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
    • Oh dear, hope you are OK, I've had it three times and it was worse each time, but not a patch on many of those who got it before they vac' role out. Not commenting on the discussion as I got confused many days ago beyond the reminder that Corbyn would not compromise and the harm that could lead to him, the party and regards Brexit pre and post referendum the country.  Starmer goes too far the other way at times.
    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the mental  energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to be able to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in both  my posts and other people's, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
