We were there a few weeks ago with a range of babies and toddlers.

The steam train ride from Bodmin was exciting for them

Constantine Beach was great for the toddlers as sheltered and rock pools but also good surf for the adults

Port Isaac is also a lovely little port village to wonder around

Have fun!

Your toddler may be a bit young for this, but we always enjoy a bike ride on the Camel Trail when we stay near Padstow. It's a beautiful, traffic free stretch of disused railway stretching from Wadebridge to Bodmin. If you don't have your own bikes, there are several cycle hire places that have bikes with child trailers. http://www.padstowcyclehire.com/home.htm

Just back from a week near St Austell. Spotted Kidzworld nearby on the road towards Fowey which may suit a toddler. Think it is about a 40 minute drive from Padstow.

We considered going to Newquay Zoo but didn't in the end. We were told that it is pretty good. Also advised that Lobster Hatchery near Padstow is good but don't know if this is for little ones.

Hopefully once there you can get your hands on some brochures. We picked up one that had all sorts of activities/attractions for children.

Have a nice holiday.

Hi

we were there in March with our then 19 month old, we did the camel trail bikes mentioned above (daughter on kids seat on the back) - the bit from Padstow to wadebridge was the nicest. Also Newquay zoo and for a wet day the aquarium. The Rick Stein Bistro is happy to take kids for lunch!

Have fun!

Maybe too late, but if not - camel trail, you can hire trailers/seats for toddlers. If you're the other side of estuary, then carruan is a "play farm" near Polzeath. Small but good for an hour or so.

All the Stein places are OK with kids - we did Fish Restaurant for a special occasion, but definitely do the fish and chip shop.

Hanging around dock in padstow is good for a bit - you can get a crabbing line and try to catch crabs (or one of you can while other one potters round the shops).

TBH, you'll presumably spend most of your time on the beach, if weather is ok...

    • This is simply untrue. The area is not 2/3 storeys maximum. Hambledon Court is on the other side of tracks from the Jewson site on Burrow Rd, is 8 storeys, and is barely known (let alone bothersome) to most people in East Dulwich. Felbridge House, Petworth House etc on the opposite side of the station from the new development are all 5 storeys tall. East Dulwich Charter (which neighbours the new development) is itself 4-5 storeys (depending on which block you're talking about). What's more, Hambledon Court was finished in about 1978 iirc and no-one has built anything similar around here since then - so the "slippery slope" "genie in the bottle" argument doesn't work either. You can't simultaneously argue that Southwark is too slow in approving new construction but also suggest this will lead to a flood of new high-rise housing! At current rates of approval, we can expect our next 8 storey building to arrive in...2072!
    • I checked - the Hanway Street place was Mandeer - it moved to New Oxford Street I think and was replaced by Hakkasan - very different prices.
    • Suppose it depends on how many Christmas cards from family and friends you’re waiting to receive. It’s been the Christmas period so surely give the post delivery service some leeway. Like Sue I’ve not posted off so many this year but some I still write letters to  e.g my late mum’s cousins and other family  but hey ho that’s something I do and enjoy.  I used to hand deliver Christmas cards to a lot of neighbours on my street but gave up this year as realised that most of them I don’t see or speak to and can only count on a few to call a true friend or neighbour.
