Agree that Homemade do lovely carrot cake. Their brownies are great as well (they have vanilla salt in/on them which is unusual but delicious). Also good is the Blackbird Bakery carrot cake, they're on NCR on Saturdays but also have a shop near the station. Their chocolate fudge cake is nice too.

I eat too much cake :-$

I just got that one, rather amusing for Meds.

Now get back in training and remember - in 10 months time we'll all be rooting for you - for a fortnight - before forgetting you again.

And Doc? Work on the backhand and the mood swing - you keep hitting the net.

No, not LL. But close, Sydenham.

But you can't beat carrot cake from Homemade - they are consistently brilliant at everything they do there (tu)

just went to Homemade; the carrot cake was yum but the one at La gastrononmia is even better.

Btw why is food in ED so expensive. I recently went to a great gastropub for lunch in Cannonbury (The cannonbury). It was busy, the service was excellent and the portions were massive and delicious. The price was the equivalent of that offered in ED but the overall value was far greater. or i can pay ?7 for salad and quiche in ED

bil I am definitely going to have to try the cake in La Gastronomia as I love the Homemade cake!

I had a cake there once, can't remember what it was, and I can't remember it being all that nice. I haven't been back since my first visit as I found the place a bit soulless. I felt like I was sitting in a furniture shop if that makes sense...? It hadn't opened long though and it was pretty empty - wonder if the atmosphere has improved?

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.
    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
