The Irish festival is a Southwark wide festival with funding on that basis from the council. The Labour administration has different priorities to previous years and hasn't funded it this year. The organisers may find alternative funding for future years. So although this festival occurred in Peckham Rye Park in Peckham Rye ward its a Southwark wide event with local issues about noise pollution affecting East Dulwich ward residents.

Their you go Tiger Ranks. Fingers crossed the organisers can pull something out of the hat for future years.

    • Reform have not taken over Southwark council and reviewed the spend, so that's not helpful.
    • Well, shrove Tuesday is Mardi Gras in many countries, an occasion marked with fireworks etc., so could be. Today is also the start of Ramadan: I’m familiar with fireworks marking end of Ramadan but the beginning?
    • Oh I agree - we shouldn’t just blank cheque anyone  but I would still say as we aren’t running a council it’s difficult to be part of the decision making process and understand what the cost-benefit of something we see as wastage is versus something else  The fact that ideological purists like reform think they can take over a council and boast about the savings only to find they can’t suggests a wider picture
