Railway noise in Ivanhoe Road...

Hello there, this is my first post because...I don't live in ED (yet!).

We were looking at a house on Ivanhoe Road recently, and couldn't help noticing a railway line running about 20 metres from the bottom of the garden... Is it a noisy line? Do they run freight trains at night? Or does it just stop bothering you after a while?

Hello! We back on to the railway on Ivanhoe too.

In answer your questions - No it's not that noisy, it's not a freight line, very occasionally maintenance trains will go by at night but they are pretty quiet and you would only hear them if awake anyway, they are pretty rare though. You do get used to them and block them out after a while.

For some reason the evening trains are squeakier than the daytime ones but again, you get used to them, and they're more of a bother in the summer months when all windows are open.

It's a nice road to live on all in all, the trains really aren't an issue for us. :)

Don't live there, but have lived in a house with a train line at the end of the garden, and you really do just stop noticing it.

It certainly wouldn't be enough to turn me off of a house that I otherwise liked.

I live there and have done for 30 years and love it, you get all the greenery too. Only occasionally are they a bother. The airpolane flight path is worse. Most people who have moved in tend to stay as it is nice area too.
