In case you didn?t know there are no trains from East Dulwich over the Bank Holiday weekend due to engineering works that I would expect includes the bridge replacement on Bellenden Road.

From Southern:

Buses replace trains between London Bridge and Tulse Hill from Saturday 26 until Monday 28 May

Date:

25 May 11:00 PM - 28 May 2018 10:59 PM

Routes affected:

Between London Bridge and Caterham / Beckenham Junction / Crystal Palace / East Croydon via Tulse Hill

Engineering work is taking place between South Bermondsey and Tulse Hill, closing all lines.

As a result, buses will replace trains between London Bridge and Tulse Hill.

I've double checked, the trains are running to Clapham Junction at x12 and x42 past each hour which go to Victoria from Platform 2.

The TfL journey planner is dire for National Rail services.

How did you check? The details on the PR live feed website for the clapham and London Bridge trains say "by bus"

You?re at cross purposes. There are no CJ or LB trains from Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill. They are bus only.

There are trains from Forest Hill at the times listed above.

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
