I have just returned from a celeberatory dinner at Chez Bruce, Wandsworth. What can I say - food fantastic, service exemplary, wines and wine list truly inspiring.

Not cheap but that very special occasion I can recommend it wholeheartedly. 8 years in SE London and this was my first visit - I've wasted so much time.

Chez Bruce for me has to be one of the best restaurants in London. We've been a number of times & have never been disappointed!

I'm sorry to say I was disappointed with Heston's dinner, in my opinion I think it's over hyped. We were served flat champagne on arrival & the food was average, in fact the dessert was so bitter my friend & I could not eat it.

My top 4 in London (in no order) are Chez Bruce, Pollen Street Social, Gordon Ramsay Royal Hospital Road (all his other restaurants don't compare to this one) & River Cafe!

Well I thought Dinner was great fun. More of an experience to do once than somewhere to go back to.

Surprised by the flat champagne - that's hard to get wrong surely...?

Never heard of Pollen St Social... will look into it.

My fave restaurant at the moment is actually Zucca on Bermondsey Street. A lot, less swank than the others on here, but simple delicious food and reasonable wine list.

I think you have to get 3 courses (it's a fixed price menu). Maybe around ?170 with a cheaper wine, if you want aperitifs and coffees. Definitely a "special occasion" place, but possibly the best food in south London.

    • You can get a card at the till, though, to get the discount. You don't have to carry it with you (or load it onto your phone), you can just get a different card each time. Not sure what happens if they notice 🤣
    • Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a  PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
    • This sounds great 👍
