The LGBTQ rights issue is just one issue. There are other Global issues like Religion and Race issues.

The World Cup brings together Peoples from across the Globe and Unites them in The game of Football.

Let's keep this Thread about the Football and not Politics.

Just foe once.

I'm less excited about this WC than any before. Maybe I've seen too many as 1970 was the highlight. My support for my country of residency appears to flow with how the tabloid headlines are treating them. If they are OTT when England win a game it puts me off, but when they are slated for losing a game I feel sorry for them and the manager.

I like this England squad mainly because it doesn't contain 'stars'. That's not to say it doesn't contain some very good players. I suspect the manager is out of his depth but I hope I'm wrong as he is a nice guy. Good luck to them.

The only positive thing I have to say is that Russia is not Qatar. Recent England performances in international competitions has put me at my lowest interest since 1986 (was watching Madness at Glastonbury rather than the hand of God).

Funnily enough in my left field predictions in a work competition I had England beating Uruguay on pens, after a 0-0 full time in the final. Never done a predictions thing in my life. And I drew Switzerland out of the hat.

Went to Germany, Brazil and France 16 where I fortunately saw France Iceland - a close shave as it could been England. Even then a Brit got arrested.

I like my beer and my football, but for so many reasons would never want to see England live. I felt like this well before Brexit.

I?ll post my opinion when and where I want to Dulwich Fox. This is too important an issue not to note it. It?s an unwise move to try and silence people.

you are quite right- but you will find the same kind of attitudes to LGBTQ rights in many faith schools in THIS country- all paid for from our tax contributions

Peter Tatchell has already been arrested and bailed for his protest in Red Square (He is brave)

Underwhelmed by England last night. Should have put the game to bed (no excuse for such woeful finishing) and a little surprised about how sycophantic the BBC pundits were. But in a glass half full mode those are the sort of matches you need to grind out a result (although should never have been in that position).

I must of been watching a different game.

England looked sharp in the first half but after the half-time chat came back out a different team.

This often seems to happen, same down Millwall. I sometimes think Managers should ST*U at half time

and let the team reflect amongst themselves about the first half.

We were lucky to steal the Win. Not at all convincing.

Lots of room for improvement.

Don't know why that ref didn't give England 2 pens yesterday, given the one he did award. England shouldn't have had to go through the fairly nerve racking 2nd half.

Started brightly but went downhill. The conditions may have had something to do with that.

Some of the shooting was abysmal.

Sterling runs around a lot but not much end product. Rashford a better bet I think.

Not sure what ED was like but Margate was another world. Seems like everyone was out, England shirts and tattoos a plenty. Not sure what I think. Don't want to be an urban elite sneering down on the good citizens of NE Kent. With the sun and the win rather a celebratory atmosphere. Reminded me a bit of Euro 96.
I was watching the on the opposite side of the estuary, in Leigh-on-Sea. Regular boozer ? tats, tans and singing. Loved it ? busy but very friendly, no animosity, no xenophobia. Landlady played a selection of inspiring tunes before kick-off. When I heard "Jerusalem" followed by "Vindaloo", I knew it was fine. Emily Thornberry would have hated it.

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
