I had experienced an officious member of staff at the PO over WHS in Forest Hill when trying to send a package abroad. I had never had a problem at the Forest Hill Road branch so ultimately decided to take the package there. As the content was prescribed medication for my son who has a heart condition, I explained what was in the package and the lady behind the counter checked with the boss, who I take it was Raj, who said there was no problem. They were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful, so different from the member of staff at WHS Post Office, Forest Hill. They will be very much missed as their friendly attitude and approach made it a pleasure to go into the shop. It had the feel of a country style post office and newsagent and they were so much a part of our community. We're gradually being homogenised! Very sad and sorry to see them go.
I know this seems selfish (and I am very sad to see the team go, they were very good at their jobs and nice people) but is the outlet to re-open as a sub-Post Office - or have we lost that as well? The sub-Post Office facility in Wood Vale was closed as the PO thought that it wasn't needed as we had the Forest Hill Road one nearby (and of course the CTN there very quickly closed as well once the PO revenues were lost) - is this one going now as well?

There's one in the chemist in Dulwich Village.

I went down there yesterday after FHR post office closed and there wasn't a single person waitig to be served.

So with FHR sub PO closed till 2nd July, the alternatives ate the sub PO on Brockley Rise were the P12 terminates, PO in WHSmiths Forest Hill. PO at Goose Green, PO nearly opposite Peckham Bus terminal, can't think if there is one in Nunhead? or any other's.

Is there there a sub PO in the parade of shops close to the vets on Lordship Lane?

Seems we are short of sub post offices, so likely to be longer queues at other Post Offices.

That's in SE21. The whole of the SE22 postcode is now served by one PO which itself was saved from becoming a tacky shop/PO combo.

    • From the school newsletter:   A New Name for Dog Kennel Hill As you know we have been discussing and consulting with stakeholders about a  name change at DKH for a while. Following engagement with staff, pupils and  families, we gathered all views on a name change for the school and after  careful consideration of the feedback, the Local Committee and the Trust have  agreed with changing the school name to Grove Primary School from  September 2025.  Over the next few months we will begin a gradual process of changing our  name on signage, our website and emails etc. We will keep you updated.  We will be looking at designing a new logo to match the new school name and  will be working closely with a graphic designer to get creative. The school  council will be actively involved in this process. We will share the results with  you as soon as a design has been agreed and confirmed. We will be creating a  new school jumper to replace the old one, once the logo has been finalised. We  will phase this in over time.  We know that this is a welcoming change for some and that there are  parents and children who will be sad about the change. However, as a school  we think it will be a positive change for our school community and we will  work together to ensure that the ethos and culture of DKH will remain!
