Noisy cats. Please help!

Hello, I live on Tarbert Road and frequently get woken for hours at night by screaming cats. I thought it might pass but it's been going on for over a month. I don't know who owns the cats, it seems to be more than one and there are a lot of cats in the area. I can't think of how I can locate the owner, or even if they can do anything, but lack of sleep is a big problem. I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem, or if anyone has a solution?

Try earplugs from any chemist.

Thanks, I have tried two kinds of earplugs but unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. Also my partner can't wear them.

Could be foxes. They make a hell of a noise when mating..

Yes I'd say it was almost certainly foxes.

If it's any comfort it's usually only bad at this time of year.

Yes we have actually seen the cats making noise twice around dawn. I guess it could be foxes as well.

Sounds like there isn't much we can do apart from move (!). I don't think I could put up with this every year.

I thought February was mating time for foxes. I haven't heard a peep out of our lot in ages. I do hear cats fighting though as we have a veritable plague of unneutered felines round our way. I have worn ear plugs for the last two years, every night. I use the wax ones from Boots which are far better for my ears than the foam ones which seem to irritate and fit badly. Do you have double-glazing? If not, I think you may need to invest in some if you can't tolerate ear plugs.

I have warring cats at about 8pm (clearly they are all fighting to sit in my front garden) but at night it's foxes. Nasty little breeders...

Just hearing screeching noises at the moment and it deffo sounds like foxes rather than cats to me ......

Ha! I tried an air pressure water pistol but a crossbow sounds much better.

Has anyone got night vision googles?

It's always at 4am, too dark to see targets.
